Raindrop.io Reviews

The UX is broken

P45C4L on

Switzerland

I use Raindrop with an average of 18K bookmarks for many years. But today, I have to be honest, the folder UX paradigm is broken. The UX is also not the same on iPad, iPhone and Desktop as moving a folder around requires different ways, especially as the edit menu features are not the same. But the most annoying is moving items around, a nightmare. In 2023 I gave up. The left iTunes menu is broken and reorganizing the sections and the collections is very difficult. Dragging stuff around is painful. I have a folder with 1.5K items in it, most of the time open it crashes the app. Also, the extensions to add bookmarks have a broken section paradigm to open and collapse them. It might be because I have way too many folders, too many items. The UI desperately needs to mimic a normal finder. As a researcher, I need a way to easily move large amounts of collections and items around so that I avoid having one massive unsorted folder, which makes Raindrop useless, Safari can do that better. For now, looking for an alternative that has a better UX.

Great, but small fix needed

Stop looking for another Bookmark Manager!!!

AMAZING App!! My bookmarks were a nightmare, collected over many years from multiple Systems, Browsers & Devices. They'd been imported, exported, synchronised etcetera, to the point where they were completely unmanageable. Then I found Raindrop, now they're sensibly grouped in folders, categorised, tagged, lean and clean with not a duplicate (quadruplicate) nor broken link to be found. Thanks for doing all the hard work for me Raindrop! I have you as an extension on all my browsers and as an App on my devices. Plus the added bonus that I can access my bookmarks from anywhere with Web Access. Highly recommended 😁

Que c’est bien ! On regroupe tous les signets dans la même application disponible sur tous les supports. Mode recherche efficace. Faudrait encore quelques facilités comme importations directes Pocket et Instapaper

Lost all my stuff

rich maroon on

Loved this app for about a year. One morning I opened it up and there was nothing. I had meticulously saved hundreds of links and now they were gone. Despite my many attempts to rectify the situation…nothing. I emailed support and, five days later, was told I probably used a different email. I only have two that I use and, nope, that doesn’t answer the problem. Some priceless stuff lost. Loved it for a year but now, not recommended.

Highlighting does not work

SHMD99 on

United States

I use diigo’s highlighting feature and wanted to compare it to raindrop but while I like raindrops UI better, I can’t get the highlighting to work so I’m not ready to move yet.

Great app, but sync is poor

Mbierman on

United States

When opening it can take a few minutes to sync latest bookmarks. This should be a top priority to fix.

It's an ugly reading experience, without a reader mode

DannyGGGT on

United States

It seems like such a feature-packed app but I don't even see any way to enable a reader mode, so I'm stuck with a bunch of ad-covered websites when I'm reading. I don't get how they could omit this. I can't use this as my article repository after all. Disappointed.

Suggestion

It would be nice to store backups on iCloud.
