I originally got raindrop as an alternative to pocket but the extension especially has become a real pain to use, it used to be so streamlined which isn’t the case anymore. If you were saving several links with the same category it used to learn and then auto populate this for the next one which doesn’t happen anymore, selecting a category doesn’t filter the tags so you get ALL tags for ALL categories instead of just the tags for the selected category which is incredibly time consuming.
Sometimes selecting the extension on iPhone, in the share menu makes safari freeze and you have to completely close safari for it to do anything again, it’s been a problem for a long while and dev hasn’t responded to any bug reports unfortunately.
In the app itself, thumbnails never load so I have no idea what I’m even looking for half the time
I can see there’s occasionally App Store updates but nothing seems to get fixed? I don’t understand what the dev is doing honestly. I’m very frustrated by the app at this point and have moved back to pocket until the numerous and mounting issues and design flaws are addressed, sadly I don’t think this will happen. Huge shame
Great functionality but not perfect
I’ve been using this for a while now, and while it can sometimes be a little unstable, it’s generally pretty good and I now use this in preference to the local bookmarks in web browsers and Twitter
Cannot save links
Every time I try to save a page from safari via the share sheet, I get an error saying you do not have access. The “add to unsorted” option works.
Version 5.1.14 no longer remembers navigation.
Since the update to 5.1.14 the app no longer remembers the navigation position when the app is closed and instead always opens on the “All Items” position. I want it to open at the top of the Collections position. The previous version remembered the last location. Please either revert this behaviour or better still provide a configurable option within the app. (The browser version can be made to do this by opening the specific URL for the location desired).
I have failed to find a way to raise this with “support” so have rated this to get attention to this issue. Best regards.
Runs rings round Pocket !
This is a very intuitive and very simple to use app.
However, just because it’s simple to use, it still has great capabilities. Adding folders and tags to items you have saved is easy.
Raindrop is a very well designed app and is a joy to use.
Some regression in usability on iOS
Love raindrop for the most part but the recent updates to iOS make it quite annoying to use the safari extension. Previously when you added a category it would then only show you tags related to that category but now just shows you all of your tags regardless, if you have more than a handful it just takes extra time to add these now. The UI also takes up too much of the screen when you’re adding tags, when backing out of the main tags list the keyboard remains on screen despite there being no text field selected. The save button is also covered up by the keyboard and it’s all just a bit of a mess at the moment.
For these reasons I find myself using it less and less which is annoying. The previous way of doing things was also time consuming and required far too many clicks to get things done but the new updates have not streamlined this process in any way in my opinion and has become a nuisance to use. In the main app also thumbnails almost never load despite being present when saving a page using the extension. I hope these issues will be addressed soon because it’s a shame to see its progress go backwards like this.
Amazing App
After trying Pocket, Instapaper and a few more of these link saving apps, I finally find one that works properly and that it lets me organise the links in folders properly.
Amazing design too and really friendly user interface. Simply perfect!!
In-app sign-up form will not accept text
Cannot progress.
Just what I needed!
Raindrop is a breath of fresh air. I’m no longer bound to a single browser’s ecosystem meaning I can browser-hop as and when I need. The Safari extension on iOS makes this so much more useful as I no longer need to open a separate app to get to my bookmarks.
Passwords
Given how frequently you have to sign in to this app you would think the developer would do a better job of integrating with password management apps.
