Demodulate and play AM and FM signals received by an RTL-SDR, Airspy HF+ or SDRplay radio. Requires a radio and a host computer which are not provided with SDR Receiver and must be separately installed and configured. Streams data from an rtl_tcp, hfp_tcp or rsp_tcp server application which are free and open source applications. The appropriate server application must be installed on the host computer and configured for the attached radio.
SDR Receiver is a Software Defined Radio (SDR) that processes, demodulates and plays AM, narrowband FM and wideband FM signals. Listen to communications from aircraft (AM), amateur repeaters and VHF handhelds, police and fire, NOAA weather reports (narrowband FM) and commercial broadcasts (wideband FM).
• Easily entered and managed lists of stations simplify station selection.
• Export and import lists of stations in CSV or TSV format.
• Adjustable squelch that works for both AM and FM signals.
• Adjustable LNA gain (for RTL-SDR and SDRplay radios).
• Adjustable audio high pass and low pass filters.
• Selectable IQ Offset eliminates DC errors.
• DC Blocker option reduces spurious errors.
• Signal strength indicator that shows power level in the signal passband.
• Multiple sampling rates to accommodate different network bandwidths.
• Selectable 8-bit or 16-bit sample size streaming from Airspy HF+ and SDRplay radios.
• Option to play audio over AirPlay to a HomePod, HomePod mini or any AirPlay compatible device.
• Stream synchronized audio to multiple AirPlay 2 compatible devices.
• Lock Screen shows controls and streaming station information.
• Custom URLs enable another application on the same device to set the station and start streaming.
• Supports VoiceOver.
SDR Receiver processes signals that are streamed over the network from a host computer (Mac, PC or Raspberry Pi) that is attached by USB bus to an RTL-SDR, Airspy HF+ or SDRplay radio. An rtl_tcp server or equivalent application running on the host computer receives baseband IQ data from the radio and streams the sampled signals over the network to the iPhone or iPad running SDR Receiver.
Requires an RTL-SDR, Airspy HF+ or SDRplay radio and a host computer which are not provided with the application. Support for 192 ksps and 384 ksps Airspy HF+ sampling rates requires Airspy HF+ firmware version R3.0.7 or later, and hfp_tcp version v.1.2.117 or later.

SDR Receiver FAQ
Is SDR Receiver free?
SDR Receiver is not free (it costs 9.99), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is SDR Receiver legit?
🤔 The SDR Receiver app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Great app if you have list of known frequency’s you want to monitor
It’s one of those nice apps where it’s simple / obvious to use with the exception of importing your CSV. It would be helpful if the pop up telling you there’s nothing to import also tells you that you can also use the file share feature to import 😀
Needs SSB modulation
Great app for storing interesting frequencies. There is no SWLing logging app for iOS and this is the closest I could find. A few features that would make this a killer app: -
1. Addition of USB and LSB modulation would be useful for storing VLF and aeronautical frequencies such as Volmets.
2. Date and time that frequencies were heard.
3. Integration with online station ID databases.
4. A waterfall would be amazing!
Great software
Loving the software. It took a bit of figuring out to get it working, but now that it’s done it’s amazing. The only thing that would be really helpful to add is the ability to tap the frequency and manually type the frequency, rather than having to constantly hit up and down to change it. thanks for all your hard work with this software.
Great app that does everything I need
As a newbie to all things SDR, I was looking for a clear, straightforward app to meet my particular needs - to monitor marine vhf channels remotely around the house on my iPhone, whilst still making use of the roof aerial.
This App meets those needs perfectly.
It allows me to create a list of channels/frequencies to monitor and easlily move between them.
I had a user error problem with setting up the the other parts of my system (the SDR dongle and raspberry pi), nothing to do with the app. However, the help section within the app itself, and some really great extra help from the developer, who responded really quickly to my email query, got that part sorted straight away and all is working perfectly.
I am looking forward to finishing off my home set up with the roof aerial installation this week, safe in the knowledge that the rest of the system is ready and waiting to make best use of it.
Overall better than RTL-SDR...but
I did have the only other RTL SDR TCP app installed but had a few issues with it, like only 5 memory channels, and poor squelch control... and a major issue that the developers of that other app ignore all support e-mail requests, not one reply to 3 mails
This app is much better, you can store multiple frequencies, seems unlimited and you can group them too.
Supports AirSpy, which the other app does not seem to
Brilliant
Down sides
1 No SSB demodulation
2 Squelch should be in front screen, or stored with each channel.
3 A whole load of preset channels that will be useless to most people , but you cannot delete.
4 You can’t type a frequency directly into the frequency bar at the top.
I’d give more stars if the issues above are addressed
A basic, stable tcp set client
This is a basic “radio” app for listening to AM, nb FM (like NOAA weather radio), and wb FM (FM broadcast). Does not do SSB. Minus one star for not supporting stereo FM. Hopefully in a future version!
this app is incredible
deserves every star. thank you for developing this on iOS, there are no alternatives.
Great for streaming local radio
App is great for streaming any of my local stations and sports broadcasts while as close to home as doing yard work or driving on the other side of the nation!
Simple server with an FM antenna plugged into a Raspberry Pi and this app allows me to save presents to tune those stations. Great simple interface and significantly cheaper than paying for MLB.tv/NBA League Pass/NFL+ or SiriusXM. Plus NO DELAY since it's right from the radio feed. Can't recommend enough!
Works great with an RTL-SDR Dongle
Love this app. Super simple and stable. I would LOVE the addition of SSB modes (LSB and USB) so I could listen to what's happening on the HF ham bands. For now, it's perfect for monitoring my local FM repeaters and FM broadcast stations. I work in a concrete building that can't get any radio signal. Being able to connect to my Raspberry Pi at home that has a cheap RTL-SDR dongle plugged in to it, is a really nice thing to have. If you guys ever add a SSB and a waterfall, this will be the BEST SDR app for iOS no doubt. Keep being awesome devs! Thank you!
Doesn’t work on HF AM
It’s only works on VHF air and for AM. FM modes work fine.
