The official iPhone, iPad and Apple TV app for our macOS CCTV software SecuritySpy (securityspy.com). The essential component of a complete video surveillance system for your Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, this app allows you to easily monitor and control your camera system from wherever you are.
This iOS app is completely free for registered SecuritySpy users, and also fully functional during the initial trial period. It offers the following features:
- Live video and audio from your cameras
- Multiplex: cycle through groups of simultaneous live camera views in full screen
- Captures: play back recordings, including motion-detected clips, image files or whole-day movies
- Save/share images and recordings via email, iMessage, iCloud Photo Sharing and more
- Receive push notifications when motion is detected
- PTZ control (Pan, Tilt, Zoom)
- Two-way audio
- Arm or disarm camera recording modes
- Easy setup with auto-discovery of SecuritySpy servers on your network

Please note you will need a Mac running SecuritySpy 5.5.11 or later (securityspy.com), with a SecuritySpy license that covers the number of cameras you want to use in the app.

Frustrating playback experience

When watching a recording or live playback 9 times out of 10 it will exit out of fullscreen back to the list with no interaction from the user.

... it just works

I use this app all the time to monitor my house when I'm away. Alerts show a still image so you don't need to scroll through the whole video - an excellent idea when you're away on limited broadband.

Excellent app.

One suggestion- the ability to delete video files in bulk. At present you have to swipe and confirm each deletion which is long-winded. (As far as I can see). Can you add a select option for multiple files? Thanks Ben.

Good but needs new machine

Good software but requires newer versions of OSX to run. Having trialed it on my new Mac, I went to install and buy on my old MacBook - but it won’t install on that version of OS X. Old macs are ideal candidates for dedicated CCTV boxes so this seems really odd.

Works fine

I would like to see more of the features found on the desktop app / server, such as groups and camera stats (frames per second), the ability to set the number of cameras displayed per screen, that sort of thing. That said, it starts up fast (I’ve 8 cameras) and offers most of the controls you might want, such as motion capture / action arming and disarming, as well as saving of still images. I paid for the in-app purchase for the multiplex and captures viewing, but in my situation I really didn’t need to. ALL the basic features are free. Note that you can also download the app for the Apple TV 4K, which is also free, but if you’ve paid the in-app purchase, the extra features are unlocked there too, which is very, very fair. Overall I like this app, and have it on 4 iOS devices and the aforementioned Apple TV. The server component is running with hardly any CPU use on a 2018 Mac Mini. I would however like to see just a bit more polish and user options.
