Shelly Cloud FAQ
Is Shelly Cloud free?
Yes, Shelly Cloud is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Shelly Cloud legit?
⚠️ The Shelly Cloud app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Why cannot you through so many years make the application able to connect to devices in LAN and over VPN? And why adding a device connects this device to cloud disabling my mqtt?!? The app cannot add discovered 3EM over lab, yet when I connect over vpn and add by up address 3EM shows up. This does not last long, as disabling cloud to enable mqtt makes the device inconnectable regardless if over WiFi or vpn. This app is useless over LAN.
The worst application ever!!
I use it for 2 years now. It very often hangs, crashes etc. Now it want you to confirm your e-mail but when you click send button, Nothing happens. I cannot use anything. This app is a joke and a dewelopers should start testing the app before pushing it to production!
One of the worst UX ever
TLDR: Think twice before buying any shelly device. Getting frustrated every time you use the app is not worth a few bucks of savings on hardware.
I'm sorry to tell you that, but this app has one of the worst user experience I ever saw. The interface is ugly like it was designed 10 years. I own 6 RGBW led controllers and the app can fail in a lot of ways trying to set things up:
- try to add new device - it will be sometimes discovered, sometimes not and even if you set it up, it may, or may not ever show in the app
- try to add a schedule with both action and brightness set? Forget about it
- try to add multiple users for whole home? Forget about it
- shows firmware update possible, and yet it fails to upgrade as its already on latest
- try to enable light? It may or may not enable...
I could write probably 10 more items to that list, and I don't use that app frequently.
Cannot Connect with roller shutter
Version 2.0 can connect to roller shutter (Shelly 2.5) only randomly. I wake up in the morning and want to open the shutter but app says that device is offline… after several restarts or in the other moment of the day it connects successfully… annoying… Edit: needed to restart Shelly 2.5, connect again, calibrate etc… now it works, hope it won’t be necessary again. Edit: again, some day Shelly 2.5 started to be visible in the app as disconnected. Restarted everything, trying to add device again. Found out that it was necessary to set static IP for shelly on my router and then connect by this IP instead of in-app mechanism.
About version 2.0+
First there’s an elephant in the room.
After almost every update I need to power cycle my device (my phone) to get back my widgets.
It would be nice if you could bring in, out of box apple home integration or at least better shortcuts setup as “new style” of apple widgets are non interactive.
Second thing
New UI looks like you could add another home as now it groups all my rooms under another sub menu.
Where and how I can add additional home menu?
New design
Do not like new design, less information is being shown on screen. I’d love if it will be the way to bring back old design.
Missing widgets after update
Unfortunately after updating Shelly app widgets which included power switches are missing!
Also I cannot pair new Shelly Plugs after connecting to plug AP and using 'discovered devices'
It just works but nothing more
There is all functionality needed but user experience is terrible.
Additional support for voiceover to switch on or off plug or light would be appropriated.
