The app is great but subscription and T&C is very confuse. The company care more about money than anything. If forget to cancel subscription, u have to pay whatever u subscripted and can’t change plan in the interim.

The summaries are excellent and much better than other apps. They summarise the whole argument rather than a random selection of key points as other apps do. Also love the references to other books and the critical analysis. The app has some bugs, however, including an annoying issue with highlighting only working randomly.

Shortform easily has the best summaries out there. However, the one problem that’s really bothered me is the highlighter. Sometimes I’ll highlight a sentence, and I can’t even mark it? Also, why aren’t I able to extend or shorten the highlight? Please fix this feature!!!

For learning efficiently, it delivers on many levels, you won’t regret the comprehensive and well-crafted summaries. The customer service team were quick and easy to solve my concerns. Great business.

Shortform has by far the highest quality summaries. I'm a bit mental so I spent time comparing the original books with each of the summary companies and this one was by far the best. The summaries take a lot longer, but have distilled the books down as far as possible without losing the value you get from the book. Most of the other services you come away from the summary with very little substance or understanding of the material in the book. Give this a try first!

Please, be aware that their subscription does not appear in the list of subscriptions through Apple ID/App store! So, if it don’t see it among your active subscriptions, that doesn’t mean you’ve cancelled. You therefore need to be using the app to view when you will next be billed, which if you’re not planning on continuing with the service, you likely won’t be doing; a trap that I fell into. When I raised an issue with this to their team, their feeble excuse was “we told you the date when you signed up”. Their idea of compensation was for me to make book recommendations, which is a service that’s free and available to all users anyway. So, if you use the service and are thinking about cancelling, be aware you won’t be able to do it the same way you do for all other App subscriptions, and if they do trap you, their customer service is beyond useless.

Was charged an additional 12 month subscription. I admit I did not uncheck the auto-resubscribe box 12 months prior. However, when I alerted the company (on the same day as the charge and new billing period). They refused to cancel the charge and resubscription.

I enjoy the content but I suffer with the app, it crashes, highlights are slow, I can't copy paste text, at least translate or find definitions, many users may not be English natives speakers like me

Just use Wikipedia. Then compare the two for value.

Yet another app that is listed without in app purchases, but is almost useless unless you make a purchase outside the app. Functionally, it provides very little that can’t be found for free elsewhere and in fact some of the summaries I read are almost copy pasted from other sites. Not worth an ongoing subscription just to read some cliff notes, a portion of which are apparently plagiarised.
