Simpson & Partners EV Charger

The wall charger is well designed and does not look out of place on our Listed property. After an initial hiccup but with some excellent telephone support the software works well and gives me all the control I need. I can choose which source the energy comes from, solar, grid or a clever balance of the two. The display is very clear and the information clear.

The charger looks good and (relatively) well built. But control options are absolutely minimal. The device is obviously designed to modulate charging rate down to minimum levels but not such manual control over this which is an easy addition to the software. This would have been great for homes with solar power and/or batteries, who want to set a small but steady charge rate. Or control charge rate based on time of the day. I also find that I need to restart the charger every now and then as its wifi connections tends to hang. For the money, this is far too undeveloped at this stage….

Love the charger, looks and works great. App is easy to use and intuitive, works like a dream. Love the way they have designed it so it works over Bluetooth as well as WiFi, very smart and super reliable!!

The EV charger itself is excellent, but I've been having problems with the app. It worked fine at first, but in recent weeks it hasn't been saving my charge history. I get an error "Data is not being recorded because the charger is offline". However, the charger is not disconnected because I can connect to it via my mobile network over 4G. Their support team was completely useless and couldn't help me resolve the issue in any way, blaming it on my router not sending internet traffic. All of my other devices appear to be able to connect to the internet.

The app can see the charging point but the info for charging and electricity consumed just shows zero on the date of installation. The feedback page has no facility for feedback. Charging point itself is great.
