Description

Sink It for Reddit is a hyper focused Safari extension that makes Reddit's web version usable. Features multiple quality of life improvements including color coded comments, easier comments navigation, and upvoting mechanisms. Tired of seeing tons of banners and buttons asking you to use the app or login? Sink It silently, and safely, removes all of them too. Removes most of the "promotional" content too!

Supercharge your Reddit experience with improved comments navigation, adaptive dark mode, easier upvoting, and more. It also removes the use our app banners, buttons, and ads. Yeah, we loathe them too!

Privacy First
--------------
Sink It has been built with a privacy first approach.

- All the blocking happens on your device with literally ZERO data being recorded or sent back to be data mined.
- We don't keep usage data like the count of how many popups and banners it has blocked or links it has redirected.
- We don't even come with basic app analytics or telemetry to keep track of how many times you've opened or use the app.
- It does check whether you have dark mode on or not so it can show you the correct tutorial video. (I hate opening a bright video on dark mode as much as you.)

If you're a security researcher, feel free to poke around to make sure the app isn't up to anything funky.

Make the "MODERN" Reddit Experience Usable
-------------------------------------------
Sink It for Reddit de-clutters and removes most “omfg please use our app” banners and buttons as well as the annoying login popups from Reddit in addition to removing advertisements.

Reddit, wants me, and by extension you, to use their apps to consume content. The recent pricing changes to their API is an obvious sign of that.

Harder for us to block ads and much easier for them to scoop up your data, right? To further that agenda, simply browsing their sites on Safari now means we’re inundated with, well, waves of crap.

It might be a modal covering half the screen with links to the App Store, an immediate popup asking you to login, or a header screaming “the app is 10x better”. Bottomline: it has to go. All of it.

Amazing App to use Reddit on Safari

RinzlerTaken on

Been using the app for past few months and it’s been amazing experience. The developer is constantly active and collects feedback to improve the app. Also has amazing features to make the website experience less clutter free and more readable.

Can’t seem to use it anymore

ScottIsMyNickname on

Seems to only work 10% of the time. The app doesn’t reallly have recourse to understand what’s going wrong to prevent it from working

Must have!

Karupan on

I use Reddit on the web exclusively. Can’t believe this is the first time I’m hearing about this. Not only does it make the UI more tolerable, but also adds tiny improvements all around. Donated to the awesome dev, and I hope more people do so as well.

Awesome app

After they killed 3rd party apps this has become the only way to use reddit on mobile

Feature suggestion and problematic issues listed.

Future updates I would like to see: - All features being available while logged out - Mature content bypass on reddit - feature to switch between from current reddit to old reddit when mature content bypass option is unavailable. ---------------------------------------------------- Issues that I encountered using reddit while using this app: - All comments appear to be collapsed on some subreddits. - OP (original poster) microphone icon or 'OP' icon seems to disappear in the comment section since last update. - Some images and posts do not load unless if I make switch to old reddit url.

Makes Reddit usable

H. Flame on

I’ve been struggling to find a good Apollo alternative for a while, but thanks to Sink It I now browse Reddit on Safari. It’s been a great experience, better than most Reddit apps and solved a lot of my major pains. No open app banners, easy subreddit switcher, remembering scroll position, coloured nested comments, and more. Coupled with Safari’s own browser font size can be changed at any time so you’re not locked to an app’s default size. Add other extensions you can use with Sink It and it can solve most accessibility and readability issues. I love that updates are frequent and I can’t believe this app is free. :-)

10/10 app, would not want to go back to using the godawful Reddit mobile app. Thanks!

Well played

Does what it says, no fuss. Well done devs for making this! Do recommend! Now please make the same style app for instagram and help us clean up that nasty ad filled void haha ☺️🙏🏽

Excellent and constantly improving

Fantastic extension that makes the reddit mobile browser experience usable. Constantly getting updated with great QOL changes.

No need for the Reddit app with Sinkit

Sambolini on

Nice work man. This scratches the itch that Apollo left. No ads, jumping parent comments, auto night and day mode, etc. Lovely!
