Description

Hey artists! Tired of scouring the internet for reference material? Does the NSA think you’re a weirdo for looking up all those skeleton pictures? Got no-body to pose for you? Its going tibia ok, the Skelly app is just what you need! With the Skelly app you can literally pull the inspiration you need right out of your pocket anywhere, anytime!

Skelly is a fully poseable, anatomically correct reference skeleton for artists. A simplified version of the skeleton is also included, named “Robo-Skelly”. These figures were created to make the study of anatomy easier and more enjoyable for students and professionals without leaving your wallets bone dry. They can also be used to inspire poses for drawing, painting, sculpting, illustration, animation, comics, manga, storyboarding, twerking, and to fully understand the anatomy of the human skeleton. No need for super gluteus, Skelly comes pre-assembled and ready to pose as soon as you launch the app!

Learning the structure of the human body is the skeleton key to drawing the figure in an anatomically correct manner without having to clear your browser history to avoid awkward conversations with your loved ones. Whether you want to make works like Michelangelo or Miyazaki, Skelly will help you focus on your art and let you personalize his poses, rather than searching for reference material and hiring models. Learn to draw the skeleton from any angle without the inconvenient and morally questionable need to go grave robbing.

PEOPLE LOVE IT:

James Gurney, author of ‘Color and Light’ and ‘Imaginative Realism’ Says:

"Bend him, twist him, contort him! The Skelly app lets you put a virtual human skeleton into any pose, and to see him from any angle, and in any lighting. It’s a great tool for art students or professionals wondering what the skeleton is really doing beneath a life pose, or for anyone wanting to visualize a pose from scratch. The interface is intuitive to learn and easy to use, without sacrificing any of the nuances of the human body’s complex range of movement. Skelly is a big improvement over the old wooden mannikin."

- Chris Oatley, Director Of The Oatley Academy Of Visual Storytelling Says:

"Skelly is the fastest, most fluid anatomical reference I have ever seen. I was shocked at how easy it is to pose the figure and direct the light source. Finally! It’s the app visual artists have been waiting for."

Phalanges

Very Pistov on

Great app and l’ve done probably about 50 drawings from it. My only suggestion for improvement would be control of the fingers. You can move the hands at the wrist but you can’t, for instance, make a fist or have fingers slightly flexed as they are in a usual relaxed state.

Nice app. Only a few minor things I’ve found that could do with improving. Elbows don’t move side to side only up and down, and no movement in the fingers. Otherwise the rest isn’t too bad.

Fantastic

Clo-bot on

My only suggestion would be to make the jaw open and close, but other than that, I really love this app.

App is fantastic. It has some features like moving skelly to any pose U want, changing the angle and light. I finally have a good reference but please could skelly’s fingers be able to change movement in the next update. That would be a live saver. Thanks

Amazing !!!

Improvement needed by good idea

Ebling on

Good idea, posing the skeleton is easy & quick. Only let down is the quality of the model & the lighting is terrible especially if using a retina iPad. If the issues are resolved will easily 5 star...

Superb app, 100% worth the price

Superb app, even more so since the addition of saving poses, invaluable tool and would highly recommend.

Superb posing app

Alan McLeod on

The last reviewer thought this app was not worth the price. To put this in perspective, a fiver will alternately buy you one of the rubbish small wooden posing mannequins that sit on your desk! This app gives the choice of posing either a mannequin or an anatomically correct skeleton. You can move each major joint correctly on it's axis and so make the mannequin assume any anatomically correct position as well as a few others as the flexibility of the joints is greater than a humans. I find this useful as I often draw odd postures for alien and fantasy races. The mannequin can be rotated whole along various axes and you can zoom in and out to a limited degree. You can also adjust the direction of the lighting falling on the figure. I don't really use the option but you can change the background colour too. Addressing the other reviewers comments: 1) no you cannot zoom in on the hand and adjust finger by finger. Most of us have a hand to copy though so it's a non-issue for me! 2) no you cannot save the mannequin. But you can of course take a screenshot of your finished pose so again, I'm not sure this is a massive deficit. I'd buy this app again if I lost it irretrievably.

Not worth £5

Melia1167 on

This is not worth £5, it is much too simple. You need to be able to save positions of the model in order for it to be beneficial when drawing. I think another option for a more detailed body would be really useful. Being able to move individual fingers too. And also genders, if these things were added it might be worth a bit more. £5 is a lot for the simplicity of the app.

A useful tool for any artist!

Khullain on

A wonderfully simple and yet infinitely useful app. As an artist anatomy and poses are one of the hardest parts to get correct. Having a tool such as this to work out poses beforehand really cuts down the stress of finding references online or creating your own. It's a wonderfully simple idea, I'm surprised it hasn't been done before! If the app would allow the posing of fingers (another aspect of anatomy some of us dread) it would be perfect.
