I highly recommend this app for strength trainers of all levels. If you are new to strength training this app does all the work for you by offering pre-designed workouts for a variety of fitness goals. It also provides a visual representation of how to do various exercises. Once can preload the equipment available to them, or even just let the app know you are wanting to do body weight exercises…everything is covered. For those who are experienced, you can create your own workouts or use their predesigned workouts for advanced strength training. I play golf and there are even pre designed workouts for golfers specifically or swimmers, runners, cyclists, you name it. Also, the app adapts to you so as you enter in your reps and weights it will recommend changes to your workout based on your accomplishments to keep you moving towards your goals. Highly recommend for all experience levels, for newbies it will take away a good part of that intimidation factor when going to a gym with a lot of equipment.
Best value. No frills app with excellent functionality and guidance. Easy to set it up with your home gym capabilities and have it define a routine for you. Easy to increase or decrease routine difficulty. Ability to record your progress… it’s got everything I need and more. Started using 1 year ago and the difference is huge. I’ve tried several other apps, but nothing has been better for me than SmartGym.
This app has a ton of potential. Curious why you make the creation of supersets so manual
For me I thought that this was just another workout app and that it won’t work on my phone. But I didn’t care so I decided to download it and give it a try. That probably would have been one of the best decisions of my life. The app lets you make your own routines and lets you pick what exercises you want to do (by the way it has a lot of exercises to choose from) and it also tells you what muscles you are exercising and how much they are getting exercised. Another thing that I like is the awards, at least for me they help keep me motivated and help me not forget to workout twice a day for 30 minutes. The price is pretty expensive and I do think that it is a little but overpriced but everything else looks great and functions how it’s supposed to
Trial period is too short, one week, to figure out the nuances of the app and determine if it’s worth the money, it isn’t cheap. Basically you have to pay 60 bucks for a year to see if you like it which might take a couple of weeks to determine. App seems to forget you you swap out exercises. Sometimes it forgets your weights if it cycles an exercise out and back in a month later and you have to dig through the history to find it. Apparently everyone is a narcissist because the share to social media prompt can’t be turned off forever instead each time you start a routine you have to close it.
For someone like me, that had a great gym available but not too much knowledge on how to start, SmartGym became an excellent on ramp to quickly get started. I like the option of switching out exercises in a routine and it’s very simple to logs sets as I go. The watch app really does work independently and with all the functionality I need. The only major con I see is that some of the routines feature back to back exercises which are repetitive in terms of muscles worked. I’d rather have a different exercise, or just have one with a higher intensity in terms of repetition or weight.
Very happy with the exercises and how it tracks. Works well with Apple Watch, phone, and iPad. Also works well with others app. Jury still out on the AI though. Not sure the suggested workouts can adapt to stalls.
This app help me break my streak of doing the same thing at the gym. Not only do I never have to make up a work out routine again. I can modify my workout by which sport I currently am training for. This is an awesome app. I refer to everyone.
Easy to use - been working out 1+ hour/day, 6 days/ week for 3 months now, enjoying good progress. Like the way the app keeps raising the bar. Haven’t missed a workout since I started using it.
