Sololearn: Learn to Code

These insane subscription apps need to end. In no world am I paying 110 dollars for something to explain it reasoning when I can literally screen shot it and ask chat got for free.

Update: it no longer knows that I have paid for the professional level. I will be trying to get my money back. Neither sololearn nor mimo are good at Python data structures. Not for tuples nor dictionaries. There are not enough examples nor exercises to learn the concepts. Sololearn is worse for data structures. The AI is occasionally helpful, but not very helpful. I am still looking for a class to teach me those concepts. Sad 😞 me.

SoloLearn was a nice place to learn for free and for beginner programmers.. now it’s become a money sycophant. Way to downgrade UE.

Affordable price for an excellent opportunity to study various programming languages . Lessons are short and the comments help when I am confused on an equation

I think you guys should add assembly language to the mix. Because a lot of computer software development needs to have at least some interaction with hardware. And assembly is the only way to communicate with the hardware

Great for casual review

Love the app, but its been difficult to use it in portrait mode. Not sure if it’s because of the previous update but I haven’t been able to use app on my iPad Pro with my Magic Keyboard due to the app only working in portrait mode. Wasn’t an issue a few weeks ago. Pls send a patch or let me know if it’s user error on my part. All in all this is a great app! P.s: For new users I’d recommend taking the courses seriously. I have notes for all of the lessons I’ve learned. Get a notebook and write every important piece of information. A for recall, and B for reference. Dec update: Looks like they reintegrated the landscape support, on iPad at least. Gonna be much more inclined to finish my course. Thank you devs 👍

12/19/24 Update: Since posting my last review, an update was made to the app and I’m so happy to say that Landscape mode is back! I’m now able to fully immerse myself in learning with all additional features that the app has to offer outside of the browser. I’ve missed the code playground, which allows me to create and run programs with all of the tools I’ve gained in my lessons. I’ve tried several coding apps, and nothing beats this one when it comes to providing a full understanding of the material and getting to truly test my comprehension. Also, I can now comfortably use the iPad on my lap whether it’s in the case with the stand or connected to my keyboard. I will definitely be renewing my Pro subscription because it’s so worth it to be able to learn without the anxiety of losing hearts. I highly recommend investing in Pro to anyone who is serious about programming and wants to potentially use it in their future career. 12/16/24: I am a Sololearn Pro subscriber, and I would absolutely give this app 5 stars if it supported landscape mode rather than portrait. I have a keyboard with my iPad, which is not possible to use in portrait mode. Also, if I choose not to use the keyboard, my 12.9 inch iPad only can use the stand in landscape mode; there is no way to use the stand in portrait mode which has made me completely stop using the app, and only accessing Sololearn through the browser. This is a huge problem because the browser version is incredibly limited and lacks essential features that enhance my learning experience, especially since I pay a subscription fee. At this point, I’m not sure if I will renew my subscription without landscape mode being reintroduced. Please consider users who pay to use your service.
