Should be able to update firmware via the app
The firmware updating process is horrendous. You should be able to update it wirelessly via the app like any modern device but instead you have to find a computer, connect it with wires and adapters, then download software plus python onto your computer. Not the greatest unboxing experience, this dampened my first experience with a speaker I had high hopes for. Additionally I hoped the music from the app would play through the speaker alongside my guitar but the music comes out of my iPad/phone and guitar out the amp. Troubleshooting is difficult when they don’t make support resources easy to find. The one video I found to get this working doesn’t resolve the issue.
A poor experience
This looks like a good purchase. Amp sounded scratchy on downloads (mostly). Volume was unpredictable. Came in loud then refused or turn up sufficiently. Not impressed. It’s going back.

Update needs tweaking

Great amp editor, annoying notifications
Awesome software for controlling the spark amp as well as jamming.
What’s not so great is the business sends push notifications to advertise extra products and using the loading screen/splash as an ad for the jimi Hendrix tone pack. I just bought the amp let me use it in peace, not everyone wants to sound like Jimi either
Still a bit buggy
I deleted the previous review only to give the benefit the doubt and do a firmware update. But I still have a problem. Using the second preset factory sounds turn the delay off with the app after a few moments the delay turns itself back on. Try again turn the delay off after a few moments and turns it self back on and repeat! Overall a fantastic app but please fix the bugs. Would be giving it five stars but for the bugs.

Updated app to latest version to get the “gear drop” and its just not there… Have 2 sparks in the house running on 2 separate iPads and neither updates have the 3 new gear drop amps?

New Spark - new me!
Having reviewed the spark via countless you tube reviews and independent commentaries since seeing its capabilities over two years ago; I can save you a lot of wasted time and say go right ahead a invest in one.
Since linking it up and taking guitar in hand I have seen a vast improvement in my improvisations. I thought I would have to resort myself to rhythm and little else, but I have to say this amp coupled with the spark amp has opened a world of possibilities to me. I’m still playing around with the multitude of options at the moment but if this last few days are anything to go by, I can expect greater things a few months down the line.
The interface is simple to navigate and for a practice amp - it can belt out the decibels. I am still a beginner and in the infant stages of my musical journey but I must admit, armed with the spark amp and the spark app, I am looking forward to each session with renewed figure and motivation. The Spark just does that to you, brings out the best you have and awaits better each time you fire it up.
