Best free speech app

PerianthLillith on

I came to this app after using a different app with a ridiculously priced subscription fee (naming no names) This app is pretty much on the same level reading wise and though it has less voices it honestly doesn’t matter in the function of the app. I think the only thing I miss is the search and replace all function when editing the text, which was useful to replace word pronunciations that are wrong. I love the sleep timer meaning I don’t leave it playing all night. Also has adjustable text fonts and sizes and highlighting colours. Thank you for making this app. Edit: I have tried to correct pronunciations in the apple setting but this does not come through to the app unfortunately. Please me know if I’m doing something wrong.

Good app for Apple Watch pro

Good app I’m saving to buy the premium version but I’ve added three pdf books but only two of them sync to my Apple Watch which is where I mostly use this app but I’m very worried I can’t find a way t sync my watch with what is on my phone I even tried deleting the app and re-downloading. This app is good you can choose the built in voices with the iPhone and even the really good ones but you need to download them first also you can’t use the Siri voice one which is why when I read pdf I just use the iPhone read text function to read along with the book but for moments on the go I always use my watch to sit down somewhere and read along or just even listen. It would be very cool to use the siri voices too but I am assuming it’s impossible because Apple restricts them only to system functions which is why I started a campaign against Apple to implement the mechanism that would allow you to give apps permission to use Siri voices. I’ll try my best to find the Books & Articles > Storage > ‘Sync across Apple devices’ is enabled on each and every device or I might have to find a way to contact apples head quarters to restore my syncing capacity capabilities in case they removed mine

Bed speech app on the market and I've tried them all

Legend for making this app. So customizable to fit anyone's needs and the price is crazy value for money. Thank you! One improvement would be the ability to add ‘open original’ to the bar at the bottom for ease of access, and the play functions when the original pdf is open.

No longer working after update

VictorB17 on

It was one of my favourite apps prior to the most recent update but now clicking share on a website does not add it to books and articles and I haven’t been able to listen to anything at all.

Skips chunks of text. Avoid

Dso3 on

United Kingdom

Consistently *skips* text as it reads, making the app pretty much useless. Sad.

Be careful with the archive!

BBlovesyou on

United Kingdom

On the whole I love this app, I have it on all my devices, but the functionality is best on the iPad. The major issue is the archive, I accidentally swiped my document into the archive, brought it straight back but lost all my bookmarks and annotations which means I have to listen to the whole book again. If you could fix that it would be the perfect app.

Cheaper and better than Speechify

A.though, probs would benefit from a few more functions!

Fine

ReaVecK on

Update: I still have a problem with the text being read not being highlighted sometimes. And also moving the screen will sometimes pause the audio along with other actions such as exiting the app. My main issue is the app isn’t designed for large paragraphs, the screen will not be following what is being said during a large paragraph so it has to be manually moved, and pausing the audio and resuming it will take the screen back to the top of the large paragraph despite text being read halfway through the paragraph. It would also be nice if text could be read from any point, not just from the start of a paragraph, so to resume from a point in the middle of a paragraph I have to start at the beginning and skip ahead until I’m about at the same point.
