What was good at launch is now terrible
I've been using Stacked since it's inception. I was on the beta. I was so excited. I paid for it immediately when it was released in full and it was a good app. It was simple, but that's all I needed.
Fast forward several years now and it's free, and as the years progressed it's gone downhill.
It's now a buggy mess that takes 15 attempts to launch, spends forever trying to load a feed of Matthews' podcast, articles and client testimonials/supplement testimonials before it will even think of letting you progress to the next tab. Between those two steps it will crash, not load data, log you out and crash again.
As someone who paid for it in the initial phases it's a bit of a slap to have it downgraded and watered down. Don't waste your time. Use something else. Almost every other tracker dies what this does and better.
Perfect app to log your workouts and progress!
I’ve been a big fan of Michael’s books and podcast for some time. To put everything I have learnt into real life practice on this app is awesome! It’s a great way to log your progress, push your limits and kick your goals.
I would love to be able to add a little cardio in the mix (particularly when I go through my shred phase for my body comps) I will usually have some HITT cardio to complete at the end of my workouts.
Apart from that - BRAVO
Good app that can be a little buggy
Has all the BLS splits which is fantastic. It’s free as well and does very thing you need. I do have issues with it picking up what work out I should be doing on the day but I can work around it.
Bad
Glitchy POS. Don’t waste your $$$
Worst fitness app
Got this app a while ago when you still had to pay for it. It was basic but good. Now it’s just useless. Crashes all the time. Looses training history. Mixes pre-populated weight for exercises. Regret every cent I spent on this trash.
I wonder how this can have a rating greater than 4 stars. Must be the developers rating it themselves
Update
The update is terrible, unintuitive and clunky. I can’t track anything as effectively anymore.
Great app
This is a great app but one question, can the weight be changed from LBS to KG?
Excellent, with plenty of development potential
Just bought this app after using the 10-session free trial, and it’s the first workout app I’ve ever thought was worth paying for. It’s extremely well-priced for what it has to offer, and excellent that it’s a one-off payment system over a monthly subscription. It’s not overly-complicated or ‘busy’ either. I’m a relative oldie as far as technology is concerned, but it’s really intuitive, and I worked out how to use it on the go. So after a couple of uses during rest periods in between sets, was able to figure out how to use it without having to look up the user guide or consult help. And that’s saying something! I’m doing the 12 month TLS challenge after having bought one of Mike’s e-books, and I love that the program is conveniently laid out as an option in the training workout section, with all of the exercises and required sets pre-populated, depending on which day I’m at. I can also delete, add and/or substitute exercises from the drop down menu easily to tailor my workout by muscle group to do alternative exercises that I actually like doing, by easily searching using the filters to get to the target area. (Sorry, I’m sure it’s illegal in some fitness circles and possibly certain countries, but cable crunches just aren’t my thing. Other abs exercises are though, so there are plenty of options to choose from, and I’m not cheating!) I’ve also found I can now leave my workout journal at home. With other apps, I’ve had to keep extra notes as I go for entering when I get home, because either they’re too hard to use during a workout, or too simplistic, so I’ve found this one saves me a lot of time all-round. And something that should be noted for all those businesses marketing apps out there - this was the first time EVER that I’ve bought an app and received an email of thanks with my real first name in the salutation. Nice touch! I gave it a 4-star rating because there are a few minor tweaks that can be made for improvement, which I’ve emailed to Mike and his team separately. But in the meantime, it’s definitely working for me, is highly recommended, and it’s well on its way to becoming a 5-star workout tool.
Has some good points.
It tracks many facets of your workouts. However, you can’t pre-plan reps. You can only plan sets.
Great app
Very nicely designed and I really appreciate the perfect payment model (trial for 10 workouts then pay a one off upgrade fee - no ongoing subscriptions). Overall it is fantastic but if I had any feedback based on the week or two I've been using it it would be: there's no great way to log HIIT cardio sessions (I hate cardio but I'm incorporating HIIT based on the advice in TLS ;), or other duration-based exercises like planks (I know they're not recommended in TLS but I like to throw a few in :), and the drag & drop method to get into editing workouts/routines/etc is a bit gimmicky. Lastly, I know it's for setting and following a structured training program but I also do Olympic weightlifting twice a week and the trainers set different practice exercises each session, it would be nice to be able to add casual/one off workouts instead of having to save a new template everytime, especially if that exact sequence is unlikely to be repeated.
