I really love SugarMate and it works far better than the version I tried almost 5 years ago! I LOVE all the little noises the app makes. In fact, I will get a noise notification from SugarMate before my Dexcom alerts me with their noise alert!
A large area SugarMate can improve upon:
Offering patients to enter in their own supplements/medication names, Etc. I have a lot of medications & supplements I take that are not on the list of available names in the drop down menu. I have to use another app to scan in my daily meds & supplements and try to make sense of using the two apps. I like to be able to see if supplements or medications affect my blood sugars but cannot easily see them on the SM interface if it's not an option to add it in.
What I love is that SugarMate offers the ability to manually enter protein, fat, calories, carbs (etc) into the manual meal entry, which is wonderful!
I haven't tried to invite friends or family to follow my SugarMate readings as when I tried it years ago it never did work. I think I'll give it another go now that I've used the app for a few days again. (This app is highly recommended by one of my cherished T1 support groups and I'm so glad I decided to give it another try.)
Thank you SugarMate for offering such a incredible platform and allowing T1's everywhere the peace of mind and ability to manage our diseases the best way we can. I really enjoy the mini 6 hour graph and seeing that beautiful flat line!
Great app but..
I sincerely love Sugarmate but when it's down, it takes too long to be corrected. Second, my family depends on the Alexa skill but that's because I have an iPhone. Everyone else has an Android and I hate this limitation of availability and compatibility. I seriously hope that Sugarmate glitches are fixed sooner and that the app is available for Android users soon. Type 1 diabetics need all the resources available to them that can possibly help save their lives. Please fix these issues Sugarmate. Know that this app is a gift. We tolerated the inability to receive calls and the removal of a1c levels (gmi isn't always practical) but both a1c and gmi should be optional - please fix these issues! Thanks!
Old glucose readings
For the past two weeks, the reading shown on Sugarmate have been anywhere from 10 minutes to 6 hours late - making the app worthless for trying to track blood sugar values.
Frustrated
I used to love this app, but lately it has been giving me notifications for really old lows, even when I open the app the old lows keep notifying me even after the app shows a different number, and it’s not alerting me when my son is actually low. I downloaded this app for that reason and it’s getting worse and worse since I first got this app.
Sugarmate
Great app. I paid for another app and cancelled it and came back to this one. Works well with my Dexcom and it is easy to log things like insulin, water, carbs, etc. I LOVE IT!!!
Outstanding!
This app does a great job linking info from a Dexcom CGM and Carb counting apps (that write to Apple Health). Nice interface, easy to setup and use, easy to share data with family and caregivers.
The one thing missing is a bolus calculator. With that, this would be The go to app for diabetes. There are regulatory issues in the US. But, maybe the developers of Sugarmate could team up with the developers of BolusCalc from British Columbia Children’s Hospital, since they already have a bolus calculator on iOS in the US.
It would also be nice to have an iOS Lock Screen widget to display glucose.
In any case, this is already a great app. Thank you!
No Lock Screen widget on iOS 17.5.1
Useless without a Lock Screen widget. So disappointed.
Thank you
I just want to say thank you. I'm a software engineer in FAANG with over a decade of experience and I've always felt health technologies always suffered from poor quality. As someone who tries to raise the bar on things my team and company delivers, it's been a very frustrating experience finding a good CGM app that comes close to that level. I almost threw in the towel with CGMs, and I was in the process of voicing my frustration to dexcom in an email, I did one last search and found someone recommending this app.
Healthcare technologies should have a much higher bar on quality. You are raising that bar much higher and leading how a Healthcare app should be delivered. Thank you.
Great free app
The help desk was VERY helpful with getting my data to show up again. For Dexcom G7 users on Apple Watch Series 8 or 9 this is the only way currently to see your data for free! Thank you Sugarmate crew!
IWatch
Issue with replaying my glucose number onto my iWatch
