Super Meat Boy Forever takes place a few years after the events of Super Meat Boy. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have been living a happy life free of Dr. Fetus for several years and they now have a wonderful little baby named Nugget. Nugget is joy personified and she is everything to Meat Boy and Bandage Girl. One day while our heroes were on a picnic, Dr. Fetus snuck up on them, beat Meat Boy and Bandage Girl unconscious with a shovel and kidnapped Nugget! When our heroes came to and found that Nugget was missing, they knew who to go after. They cracked their knuckles and decided to never stop until they got Nugget back and taught Dr. Fetus a very important lesson. A lesson that can only be taught with punches and kicks.
The challenge of Super Meat Boy returns in Super Meat Boy Forever. Levels are brutal, death is inevitable, and players will get that sweet feeling of accomplishment after beating a level. Players will run, jump, punch and kick their way through familiar settings and totally new worlds.

Not for Me
If it was a normal platformer I’d love it. But I’ve never really enjoyed constant runners and with a game this difficult it just makes it way too frustrating. I have it on the Switch as well but haven’t played yet but I suspect it will be far worse if you have to use multiple buttons.
I vividly remember downloading a meat boy game a few years ago that was a normal platformer. Nothing on the App Store other than this one.
On the plus side graphics are really good. Overall game design is impressive but I think it’s losing a lot of potential customers because of it being a runner.
Desperately needs a ‘quick play’ button or state saving
The game doesn’t suspend the state so every time you launch it takes like 20 seconds and 8 or 9 taps to actually get into the game as you go through 4 different menus. For a mobile game you want to pick up and play this is quite ridiculous. You also have to play a whole level at a time which means you lose progress often if you don’t have time to dedicate to finish it.
Its kind of silly because its very obvious mobile is the best platform for a game like this, so it should have been designed for mobile first but its almost like theyre emulating this game as an afterthought with the absolute minimum effort - its even letterboxed!

The game is adequate as a side scroller. It’s not as charming, difficult or punishing as the original, but is fun nonetheless. Unfortunately the app is quite buggy, with sound not working at all in game, and only playing out the left headphone in cutscenes. This doesn’t seem to be being fixed. Some of the cutscenes also flicker side to side constantly, making them unwatchable. The game centre screens continually pops up every time the game is backgrounded. When defeating the boss in the clinic, the progress was not saved and I had to do it again

A great port that was worth the wait!
While many may not like super meat boy forever, I definitely think they would’ve said otherwise had this just been on mobile for it’s current price. This is one of the better ways to play the game in my opinion. Only gripe is that the cutscenes only play out the right speaker, but I’m sure that’ll get fixed soon enough.
