ThamesLink Railway Reviews

Why would I use this?

More expensive tickets than I get through other apps. Pointless download. I thought you were meant to get deals from purchasing direct?

Annoying In-App Updates

I don’t use it that often, but when I do, it does some rather slow update on startup. Why can’t it use the app update mechanism everyone else does, which would install an update when not in use, rather than right at the moment I want to use it!

So clunky !

Well an hour in and it’s crashed multiple times, I haven’t managed to add an existing Travelcard and no sign of the supposed link to AppleWallet. I can’t be bothered wasting any more time on it. Very disappointing.

New app - cheat customers

Ok so the layout is nice but the old app was fine. The main change in this version is that you can no longer look back through the day to earlier trains- so if you have a delay repay claim to submit the train details will have usually gone even before your train enters the station and oh no, your a bit stuck with the details of your claim. This also affects the arrival of late trains. I’m stood on the platform right now, it’s 7:26 and I am waiting for the 7:27 train to West Hampstead. A train that has just pulled up to the station - turns out it’s the delayed 7:03; the platform board is stuck on telling me an 8 coach train has arrived and that I need to say and sort and issue I that I see. I have 30 seconds to work out whether this train goes to West Hampstead or will it take me to King’s Cross, completely out of my way and my tickets allowable journey (for the second time this week!). But of course this train is now no longer displayed on the app. You’ve done a really tight thing to save paying out on refunds which are obviously owed because of the poor running of your trains and it has negatively impacted the usability of the app and cost me at least two penalty fines already. Poor Two stars because for the current 4 trains it is ok. And at least has the delay repay link contained within- I guess you know lots of people need that functionality. And as they can accurately submit a delay anyway, there’s less danger of guiding customers to use it. I also like that it displays the operator of the service now- so I don’t even have to waste my time submitting a delay repay claim only to be told that the Thameslink livery train, running (late) on the Thameslink line, between the Thameslink stations is nothing to do with them so I can forget my £2.50 refund on my Thameslink ticket. All most people want from the app is to find out train times, schedules and information on any delays etc. all of which is completely IMPOSSIBLE to find on this POINTLESS app!

Booking

Easy to use app and booking process.

Timetable easy

Very easy to plan a journey

Completely inaccurate

Scottyuk23 on

Get random updates to say journey is delayed, even when the train in question has reached its destination. The previous app was largely accurate and reliable.
