However, Leonardo's workshop is full of puzzles, inventions, escape mechanisms and objects hidden in all corners of beautifully decorated rooms. We’ve applied our own imagination to the story of the world’s greatest inventor, Leonardo da Vinci, providing players with unique special abilities throughout gameplay. Many challenging puzzles are inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's real inventions and ideas. Mysterious locations were created based on original artworks and the wonderful Florence, Italy of 1506.

The House of Da Vinci Reviews

Not quite as good as the Room series

Born Bonzo Cat on

Canada

I want to like this game but , I’m stuck at a stage which I have re-played over and over again and over with the same result . I have searched for answers on line walk throughs and nothing no answers so I want to like the game but as I can only play half of it , I can only give it 3 stars . Just for info I’m stuck with the last part of the catapult in the workshop , no matter what I do the ball of fire won’t hit the target to let me through to the next part of the game, which is very frustrating and I’ve spent so much time on it . I also don’t find the puzzles particularly hard compared to the Room games . Usually when I buy a game I kinda expect it to be playable and few or no faults . If anyone reading this ie the game makers can help me I’d really appreciate being able to finish the game.

Puzzles to solve that will test you

Time well spent on this app. Lots of great puzzles to solve. Music and graphic design are beautiful and eerie. Highly recommend.

Poor mechanics and camera angles

Although it’s beautiful to look at, not as good as the Room series as it’s often super glitchy (e.g. you can make the right pattern and it won’t solve unless you try it several times) and often hard to get the view that you swipe for and there is a puzzle in chapter 7 that is not based on any skill, just random spinning. Not fun.

Riveting and captivating

A great puzzle game! Tutorial was easy enough to learn the mechanics well and difficult enough to get me looking forward to the rest of the game. Well done!

Random restart - lost all progress

Great game until it randomly decided to restart itself. All progress lost. If you love restarting from scratch, this game is for you.

Pretty but not great gameplay

While the setting and graphics are amazing and the story interesting enough, this makes for a frustrating game with my whole screen app moving when trying to activate or interact with things and objects and unclear signals as to if something is working or not. Definitely not at the level of The Room yet but I would give the second game a try if I find reviews saying that the gameplay has improved.

Art is great, game.. meh..

I was looking for a good puzzle game to play after having finished the room series again, and came across this in the App Store. For 6.99, I was expecting the same quality. Art-wise, it’s definitely beautiful, but the mechanics in the game are frustrating. I like to challenge myself to not use the hint button at all while playing but absolutely could not do that here and it wasn’t for lack of trying. I encountered one bug where it took forever to get in the right angle to click on the decorative rotating puzzle on a tomb (which I didn’t even understand to be a tomb because nothing before that really made the place I went into seem like a mausoleum as much as a hidden passage) and after rotating it, nothing happened. I clicked the hints multiple times and it was unhelpful saying I should change numbers on a tower.. A tower that never popped up because the game glitched, and I only knew this because I had to search google… The game is scattered story-wise and there is no immersion because you forget what the story even is while trying for ages to complete finicky puzzles that sometimes work first try, sometimes work after 8 tries clicking on the same areas, or having to reload the whole game. Another UI gripe is trying to manipulate the objects in your inventory or some of the puzzles requiring you to rotate stuff. I spent 5 minutes in the opening puzzle with the doorbell trying to rotate the thing so that the thing would pop up, but every time I’d accidentally swipe outside of the millimetre they give you, I’d wind up moving the camera and undoing progress or even swiping out of the game completely. That kind of thing happened SO OFTEN. Camera angles are super clunky too, I would not be able to barely reach some puzzles because of their location. I see in some of the comments of the reviews that the developers write in a generic message to ask people to write into them directly, but for what use? You’ve seen the comments and 5 years later the issues raised still persist. Anyway, it’s not my cup of tea. I regret spending the money on such a broken game.

Clunky & poorly thought out

Fran.coise on

I wasn’t expecting a game as well-designed as The Room. But for $6.99 I was expecting more. The UI is clunky and poorly designed. The hints are full of typos, items are not described properly. Often the hints are not hints but just a description of the scene. It’s like the game was not properly scripted.

Très bien

Les images sont super belles, les énigmes sont généralement assez simples, les indices sont utiles et il est toujours apprécié qu’on ait pris la peine de faire une version française (presque sans fautes, en plus!).
