The Journey Down Reviews

Liked it a lot.

Good old school point n click game with a vibe of Grim Fandango

Solid game - over priced

Chapter 1 proves that this is a solid game but charging £5 (and more) for each chapter is unrealistic. I finished the first chapter and won’t even be considering any other chapters because of the price they charge. I understand the work that it takes to create these games but by comparison, buying all of the chapters makes the game inaccessible to many.

Too Short

Good game but unfortunately far too short. Definitely not worth the £4.99 that I paid for it. Would like to play the next chapter because the game is actually enjoyable but won’t be paying £6.99 for that. I completed the game in less than a couple of hours.

Thanks for remembering me when I was playing Monkey Island 20 years ago. Thanks again to make this child happy again :)

How come this is so hard to find on the store?

This is a fantastic game. I only found it because it was mentioned in a review on the net of the Broken Sword series and Thimbleweed Park which I also love. Lovely graphics, great atmosphere, sensible puzzles, nice flow and a dash of humour. My perfect combination. Maybe those of us that like these things are in the minority.

I know this is old now but I have only just had the pleasure of downloading and playing it after reading such good reviews. I really wasn’t too sure at first and it didn’t seem to make much sense, everything I tried didn’t work like getting the bird down off the forklift truck. I must admit I needed to use a walkthrough several times because I believe it is quite hard but the longer I played the more I got into it before eventually just losing myself in the game. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of there only actually being a few puzzles within the game, but apart from that considering the age of it you have to say it’s a classic. Downloaded 2 & 3 before even completing the 1st one so I must like it 👍👏

Being a BIG fan of point-click games, this one stands out. The artwork and graphics have you hooked, not to mentioned an outstanding music score that has you chilling and curled up with some good game play. I have only played the first one (which was a bit short) but judging by the reviews, 2 and 3 are longer. Good games like this, you don’t want them to end. It was a nice pace after playing one of the most intense but brilliant games on my iPad ‘Life is Strange’.

Trip down memory lane.

As a fan of the old school point and click genre, I was really impressed with the first chapter of The Journey Down. It had at its heart the trademarks of the original point and clicks of yesteryear, The secret of Monkey island, Day of the tentacle, Beneath a steel sky. The story and characters are great and puzzles although not to taxing do add the nostalgia of the genre. I hope the team over at skygoblin continue to achieve their end goal with chapter 3 and wrap up the adventure. I'm off to continue with chapter 2. 👍🏼😎👏🏼

Don't bother

Paid 3.99 for this game and I finished it in 4 hours. Waste of money

Classic Adventure

Noknowncure on

Clearly inspired by the golden age of LucasArts adventures, particularly Grim Fandango, the fully realised world of The Journey Down is a joy to explore and solve puzzles in. As the story unfolds, you begin to realise the attention to detail that's gone into building this rich universe, and the lore behind it. Chapter one doesn't reveal too much, but - as you'd expect - introduces our Heroes and lays the first pieces of plot. The puzzles are all solid and fair; challenging but not unreasonably obtuse. One for fans of traditional point and click games.
