The app has a poor rating and I can see why. 3 times I’ve tried to activate my account and 3 times no email to activate it. It’s not in my junk folder either. How can I use my not cheap dash cam if I can’t activate the account. A poor start!
Total waste of time and money. App does not connect to the camera whatsoever, which was the total point of spending the money on this camera Quite possibly the worst app I’ve ever used Would rate 0 starts if I could
Thinkware need to fix the app issue plus recording time need to be exceeded to 5 minutes not every 30sec
What’s the point spending £500 upwards for the hardware when the software won’t even let you open the app to view the video. Please improve the app.
Speed camera updates are no longer available does not speak out always kept up to date now i cant even update anything the app freezes them kicks you out so upsetting for a big compamy like this
Bought the U1000 F&R cameras had them fitted by thinkware themselves, cost £150 plus £400 for cameras. They won’t connect to my phone or my car’s hotspot unless I’m in the car and press the Wi-Fi button on the unit, even then it’s hit and miss, completely negates the reason why I bought the camera. Wanted to be able to see where my car was using the live view when I wasn’t the one driving. If my car is stolen I can’t track it, if it’s in an accident I can’t recover the data. It says you can park the car and keep an eye on it via live view, LIES! What a waste of £550. The app it’s self is difficult to get to work, doesn’t remember your phone, and a lot of messing about to connect it. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement! Should have bought a much cheaper camera and still got the same results
Tried connecting to hotspot on my phone and then it asks me to connect to Wi-Fi?? Gave me the option of hotspot of Wi-Fi so why is it when I choose the hotspot option, I have to connect to Wi-Fi?? Cannot get the camera to connect at all. In addition, why do I need this app to connect my camera and another one for viewing videos? Sort it out for God’s sake. The app is an absolute waste of time. A monkey could have done a better job.
Spent a lot of time researching and deciding upon the much lauded U1000 front and rear cam with Radar module. Really like the hardware, feels and looks well made. But the promise of a Cloud utility is what really made me choose the U1000 and now apart from when I am in the car, engine running and going through the WIFI connection to link phone and camera the functionality is a mystery. The User Manual barely mentions the function, hardware installers (mine was great at the install and showing me the connected functions with engine running) seem not to have any experience with the Cloud App. So getting help is limited to what one can find on YouTube etc. But when finding that kind of info, the unreliability of the connectivity of phone and camera, the lack of clarity between what is a WiFi connection and what is a Hotspot connection (to me they are generally the same thing) notwithstanding the use of ‘Personal Hotspot’ in an iPhone and clarity as to how one can connect to a Thinkware 50 WiFi connection (no internet) while also connecting to my WIFI at the house while I am setting it all up, just has me tearing my hair out. I’ve spent my life in technology products but rarely as baffled have I been as I am with the Thinkware Cloud functionality. Perfectly willing to accept that I’m being dense but have had three other techies look at it with me and we all have ended up in a vicious circle. Right now I can be fairly sure that while driving and parking events are being recorded so if I notice damage after parking or kniw of incidents while driving I’ve probably got a recording. But hoped for so much more flexibility and functionality - some people (blogger reviewers/ influencers) seem to get it but for this tech savvy customer I’ve spent too many hours getting nowhere. Happy to return here with tips once resolved - but my advice would be if you buy the U1000 make sure the vendor can configure and train you on use of all the functionality first. 😤
I installed a F800 pro in a vehicle 5 years ago, so impressed with the camera front and rear I kept the system moving it into 2 subsequent vehicles I bought, everything was working fine until the last update that has completely fried my cam now nothing works. The problem I believe is that the update didn’t fully load due to the useless wifi dripping off even though the app informed me my camera was using the latest version. Now I can’t use anything at all. Like other comments on here the wifi is awful and I’ve never been able to use my iPhones hotspot the app always stated it was unrecognised Brilliant camera awful app do something urgently to fix these wifi and hotspot issues
