Tonic Music

The app does exactly what it is supposed to do: it allows you to gamify your practice experience together with fellow musicians. All instruments are welcome - not only violin and piano. You chose if you practice privately, invite your friends to join your studio or open a public studio, everyone may enter. The app does not support personal messages or direct communication between users outside of a practice studio (where the guests cannot talk back to the studio host). That plus a strong community ensures a safe environment for all users. There are no (open or hidden) costs, no buyable upgrades or special users. Users are from all around the world and all musical levels - absolute beginners (of all ages) to professionals.

I like the idea a lot. It gamifies practice a lot - by streaks, awards, unlockable items... it also helps to lose anxiety to play in front of others as you can open studios to practice. Though I didn't receive any feedback most of the times, just people tuning in and leaving a comment here and there is motivating and helps me to practice everyday.

This app is very buggy.

Ich kann leider weder eine Session von jemand anderem noch meine eigene öffnen. Es ist eigentlich überhaupt nicht möglich irgendwo draufzuklicken, da die App nicht reagiert… Bitte beheben, die Idee finde ich nämlich super

The idea of the app itself is amazing. But the app crashes unfortunately always when I want to go to my profile or open my or someone else‘s studio which makes the app almost impossible to use.

Tonic has really helped me track my practicing, and helped me focus in on a few techniques. The only thing I would suggest is giving people the option to have multiple instruments linked to their profile, instead of just one.

Perfect app for who learn a instrument

I really like this app. It’s a fun way to practice and keeps you practicing. The one thing I wish there was would be a way to select multiple instruments. I play trumpet, saxophone, piano, and drums. So every time I have to switch over. But besides that it’s really fun!

Tonic has been so helpful in getting me to practice consistently. In addition, the feature where people can listen in is so motivating and helpful for working out things that I may miss when practicing. The only thing I wish would be for a larger user-base: That way I can get even more feedback and hear a ton more from talented musicians!
