Great App for Practice

BrockViolin on

Tonic has really helped me track my practicing, and helped me focus in on a few techniques. The only thing I would suggest is giving people the option to have multiple instruments linked to their profile, instead of just one.

Great!!!!

I really like this app. It’s a fun way to practice and keeps you practicing. The one thing I wish there was would be a way to select multiple instruments. I play trumpet, saxophone, piano, and drums. So every time I have to switch over. But besides that it’s really fun!

Really great and promising app

Tonic has been so helpful in getting me to practice consistently. In addition, the feature where people can listen in is so motivating and helpful for working out things that I may miss when practicing. The only thing I wish would be for a larger user-base: That way I can get even more feedback and hear a ton more from talented musicians!

Great app

The only complaint that I have is, how do you fix the ‘error loading studio’ thing I have? Even though it is not essential, it really bugs me and I was wondering if there is a way to fix it?

Almost There

Honestly it just needs more instruments. I’m a serious harpsichordist and I wish I didn’t have to log my harpsichord practice on the piano. Also, it needs to have more optimization and I want to have notifications from the app for when someone sends something to a group.

it is no longer working

used for a couple of months and suddenly stopped working for no reason. Keep freezing up and can no longer access my account.

Good concept but needs improving

I’ve been logging my practice pretty consistently since I started using this app recently. I like the concept but it needs some improvements. Here are my thoughts. - The minimum practice time per session to start logging XP should be limited to once per day. If someone is practicing in chunks throughout the day instead of one practice straight through, it punishes the user by removing the XP from those minutes of practice each time they start a session. I know there is a little break button, but that doesn’t work if I want to take longer break and come back. Just reset the minimum daily. - Unlocking a new room shouldn’t put you back to a bare room with just a floor. There should be some sort of middle ground if you have graduated from one room and are unlocking another so it doesn’t feel like you are starting from the beginning each time. - I requested a work/piece be added to the app a few weeks ago and still have yet to see it. I’m not sure what the timeline is on getting works approved but it’s too long currently. If someone is working on an etude, they would have already moved on before it was even added to the app. An option to type in the work would fix this and many less people would have “just jamming” on their sessions. It’s also unclear how to get some of the color modifiers for the rooms, but I may have just missed that. I hope the developers read these and consider these improvements which would greatly help the app!

Love it!

I love using Tonic to track my practice hours and keep me motivated. I’ve also enjoyed connecting with fellow musicians via the group chats and virtual studios. The app can be glitchy sometimes, but it has gotten much better since it was first released. Overall, if you don’t care too much about practice “points” and are just here for the music and community, you can easily overlook the occasional glitches and enjoy the benefits of this platform.

love ittt

really motivating and helps me practice, lowkey saved me from playing bad at my recital p, but only problem is that is a bit laggy and won’t let you press on things sometimes , but i don’t really mind it tbh
