Set a PB
Hi got a half Mara PB taking off more than a minute from my prior best. I can run with a friend, skip a run or just run faster for the fun of it and this plan will work around it. I’ve not had an injury problem and I don’t feel perpetually sore or tired. There is assessment runs that need to be done which can be demanding and it can schedule multiple short runs at the start but once it settles down it handles variability very well.
I find it works best if you give the plan as few constraints as possible.
High Value adaptive Training Program
The Pros:
- responds to your training immediately so if you skip a day, train harder than expected or differently, BAM new plan
- has in-depth charts showing a little of what’s going on in the back end (I use Runalyze to check some extra data too)
- responsive team answer questions (and the FAQ answers many that you’ll have)
- the free subscription is almost too good and doesn’t require payment details to get the first month premium (I pay mostly to support such an amazing product)
- emails you a ‘daily run’ which adapts to your location, undulation etc and can be edited if required
- talks to Racefully/Garmin Training so I can have the run segments spoken to me through my headphones which feels very futuristic
The Cons:
- the iOS app is a bit buggy (I never use it to record and sometimes it fails to load at all - I use Safari to do most things with TAO on my phone and a desktop browser when at home)
- to get around the Apple Watch -> Strava -> TAO issues I paid the $8 for HealthFit which is actually a pretty decent app in its own right but a hurdle to clear none the less (you can’t do the Perceived Assessment Test with just the watch as it will cut the standing still time)
- no multiple runs per day (just yet)
All in all, I can’t recommend it enough even with the few cons. 10/10 stop reading and start downloading.
