Better than the website and I can use it on the go which fits my lifestyle perfectly. Thank you so so much for this app Question, will you bring back the feature to blur example sentences? I think it went missing in the recent update? I liked that feature a lot!
legendary update thank you
Great app! Easy to use. I would love it if there was an option to unburn/resurrect specific kanji from the app. Maybe a small button on the kanji/vocab page? Overtime, I end up forgetting some of the kanji that I once learned from previous levels so it would be a great feature to have. Thank you for adding the extra practice! I needed that for so long :) I would really like it if there was an option that allowed you to practice specific burned items, like vocab, kanji, or radicals instead of all of them at once and possibly have the option to select specific burned levels. So for example, an option to study burned vocab for level 25. I think that ties in well with the unburn option idea that if I get something wrong from the extra practice, I can resurrect the item straight from the app instead of having to go onto Wanikani’s website.
Not only is this the best study app for kanji and vocabulary but the developer is amazing!! They took the time to reach out after I sent an email about issues I was having and actually reads & listens to users input. Cannot say enough good things about this one!!
This should be the official app, it works flawlessly. Thanks for making this
Tsurukame is an amazing app and has been very helpful to me. I especially love the search feature which allows me to find any kanji I’m thinking of instantly. The only caveat is that the app really should include the “Extra Study: Burned Items” feature that is provided on the main WaniKani website. After a long period of time I begin to forget the burned items and I would find it extremely helpful to be able to practice them through the Tsurukame app.
I use this app primary for reviews. I like how I can add a synonym during reviews if it’s appropriate or mark it as “actually correct” when my big thumbs mash too many typos on the phone keyboard. However I don’t use it for lessons. I like how it blurs out example sentences, but it’s missing the common usage section of the lesson which I like to review. Also, you can’t look at any kanji or vocabulary from levels other than those your are currently studying. You can search for them if you know what you’re looking for, but you can’t see a list, which would be very helpful for reviewing previous levels. If these were included the app would be impeccable! It’s still a very good app, especially for free, and I’m thankful for the amazing work that was put into making this.
This app makes using Wanikani so much easier and enjoyable. That is all I use now. It integrates seamlessly with Wanikani, so it’s all there, you won’t lose any of your progress. Plus it is faster, easier to use, much more organized and has tons of options on how you want to study. The developer is very responsive to any questions you may have and he is always updating it. In summary, get it and you won’t regret it! I am very, very glad I did!
I had no problem with the mobile site and was using it for quite some time. Recently, I started making myself do reviews while I was on the elliptical at the gym, instead of routing my brain watching Netflix. I also recently discovered you could have wanikani auto-play readings during reviews and lessons, which is highly recommended. It was a rather rude awakening to discover that on iOS, if I was also playing music during reviews (almost a necessity), the browser would stop my music cold, play the reading clip, and then leave me in dead silence. (Happened in both Safari and Chrome. Very odd because Chrome on Android does not do this.) This meant either manually restarting my music every time (lol) or just not playing the readings. I was so annoyed that I was seriously considering making an app front-end for wanikani to deal with it, but then I was like hey, maybe somebody already did… Enter this app. It does the right thing - lowers the music volume, plays the reading, and then restores the volume back. Perfect. Shout out to the dev!
