VIOFO

Does not work. Loses connection to the camera almost always. Useless application.

The problem is that if you have wireless CarPlay in your car, this app and how it connects to your phone using WiFi it just doesn’t work. As soon as you disconnect CarPlay to connect to the dash cam it automatically connects back to CarPlay. It only works if you aren’t using wireless CarPlay. Even if you can see your videos through streaming from the VIOFO, it slow and keeps freezing like every few seconds. You might as well download the video to the computer from the dash cam. Don’t even think about downloading the video using the VIOFO WiFi, because even that is slow and time consuming.

This app works fine. I’m not experiencing the issues reported in the other reviews. I have iphone SE and the a229 plus camera. I was able to use app to change settings, watch live camera, watch videos and download videos. The downloads show in both the app in the local folder or in my photos section of my phone. I don’t have any complaints.

Hard to understand what all the whining reviews are about. I use it for A229 Pro with 3 cams. This app does what it says it will do. Just have to understand what the user needs to do.

I’m really disappointed with this app. I was about to reach out to VIOFO team, but I decided not to after reading all the reviews on here. These reviews really hit the nail on the head about what’s wrong with this app: it’s missing a lot of features, it keeps dropping the connection, and it only lets you download videos from your SD card.

The app is easy enough to connect with your Viofo dashcam. Once connected the app is reasonably laid out, and will a bit laggy, most features are fairly easy to find, as well as and most importantly videos. My main gripe is, you must pair the app with the camera every time you want to use it. This requires enabling WiFi on the camera, opening the app and choosing connect camera, then backing out of the app to your phones WiFi settings and connecting, then back to app… The A229 camera has Bluetooth, as there is Bluetooth controller that is optional, so why can’t the phone connect via Bluetooth as well, so you can seamlessly connect to the camera by launching the app without all the extra steps? This feels very janky and I would hope it could be corrected in future firmware updates.

This app is just awful and really destroys the practicality of the camera. The weakest link is always what makes or breaks something and this app is it for Viofo. Constantly losing connectivity, constant crashing and just poor functionality. I have hope they might fix it but severely doubt that they will…. Bon chance!
