Fantastic vocabulary app with a lot of potential!
I’ve been keeping an eye on the App Store forever for a great vocabulary app. And Atlas English might be THE ONE because it gets so much right!! ✅ The GREAT - Robust, stable and snappy user interface - Oxford dictionary integration! - Excellent curation for ‘Word of The Day’ (relevant, useable, with context examples) - Great learning tools with various options (Flashcards, Tests, Spelling or Mixed) - Awesome teaching tools like teaching with synonyms and learning words in context - Huge PLUS: You can edit word definitions and example sentences to your liking! - Not just a vocabulary app, but also has common idioms - The ‘Learn’ section has very relevant and actually USEFUL words! - Awesome little details like swiping left and right between words in detailed view (great User Experience!) - Has translation option for words - Reasonable pricing (€36/year at time of writing) ❌ Could Be Improved - Adding new words does not have autofill suggestions - Can’t move a selection of words between lists (only one at a time) - No option to backup/export your word lists (what if my word collection is lost?) - ‘Challenge’ section feels a little bland and not fun, has so much potential though! 🙌 Features Requests - Small widget design to adopt big widget design (without gradient bar on top) - Background & text color options for widget - More example sentences pulled from the web - More multi-player games - More word games like crossword puzzles with words from my lists - Would love to see #hastags as an option with smart lists that can auto-add based on hashtags - Browser version to access my journal and lists (sync) - More control over widget (which words and lists are displayed and for how long) - Design: maybe a little more modern & vibrant? -that’s just me. Over all a great app and my current favorite! Can very much recommend it for vocabulary enthusiasts that want to expand their horizons.
