Wordpress or Jetpack - all the same mess
I have been using Wordpress for year and I have also tried out Jetpack because I am writing my blog on the Wordpress app and the software quality and bugginess of that app is horrible. So I thought that Auttomatic is trying to get people on Jetpack because they likley fixed the bugs in a different code base and I could transition from Wordpress.
But nope. It’s frustration all around. So here’s what’s the most foundational problem with the Wordpress app (and Jetpack, in case you consider it).
It’s the very same mess: long posts with many photos are basically impossible to write because the interface will break down and have the cursor jumping around randomly. The same happens when you write many shorter posts in a row – something happens in the Wordpress and Jetpack apps that when there are too many word or photos or you dare to leave the app and come back that the whole thing is becoming unusable and you have to restart everything. Not to speak of other UI issues like the active text block sliding below the iOS keyboard menu item. Or the horrible way the interface is set up in general. My advice for the designers of the app would be to write a blog with it because they clearly don’t. I don’t get that I am working on a 13 inch iPad Pro and the space they let me use if 1/3 of the screen. You could provide the option to constantly see images that you might want to upload. Or the menu items like the block selector. It boggles the mind why this has to be brought up over and over again through extra clicks. If you are on a phone – sure, that makes sense. On a tablet? That’s just stupid.
Anyway. All of this just to say that I don’t see any value in this app as replacement for the Wordpress app. It might do some awesome things I don’t use, but I obviously don’t care about them.
I just wished someone would build a proper app to write blogs in Wordpress.
Question
Is it available in Mac version? Please
WordPress
Is it possible to have support in Dutch language ? My English knowledge is rather basic because In Belgium, English is not an official language and only spoken in a business context.
Nice app
From the Mobile application I find it hard to manage Tags and categories. Building a different hierarchy or changing them. Like categories cannot be deleted or subcategories re-organized from site settings. I only find the + sign on top for Tags. No option to press or swipe and delete or so
Completely useless due to upload bug
After months of having the WordPress app, I really want to love it - I really do. But I just can’t. Update after update, the app just doesn’t work at all.
No matter if I’m on my iPhone or iPad, the WordPress app NEVER properly saves any changes to my (draft) articles on my self-hosted website. It always gives the “error during saving” message, and thus refuses to properly upload any changes to my posts. Even when I’m connected to a wickedly fast and stable internet connection. Quite annoying.
It is still ten times easier to just logon through Safari to the WordPress back-end of my website. Yes, it is less optimized for iOS, but at least it works and I get full functionality.
Highly disappointing application. I expected more. I will remove it from my devices, as it is just a waste of space.
Good app
In my experience it does everything it needs to, sometimes a struggle to find the thing I want to change but it works you just need to get used to it.
Drempel
practical
A handy tool for i-pad. Only pity is that the old publishing board & Zemanta or not available in it.
For the editor it should be made that people can chose the old and much bettor editor.
Impossible to log in
In this new update it is impossible to log into my account, please fix this!
