Zwift Companion

I live in the Middle East and running outdoors is out of the question so it’s treadmill running for me with the air conditioning on. I have my own treadmill at home and Zwift Running has transformed what would normally be a boring treadmill workout in my spare room into something I look forward to, if it wasn’t for Zwift I think I would of given up running for good along time ago. The workout plans are great and the races are something to train for and keep working towards. I’ve been a Zwift user for 5 years now and love it.

It’s hit or miss with this app. With updates it’s worse. Can’t connect with Zwift during event rides.

For a while no problems. But the last 5 months or so lacks of function with the main swift app. I have deleted and reinstalled, deleted the cache and reinstalled . Both phone and Mac are on the same WiFi. Still no map no controls to rider or chat. I’ve gone through the threads and found a 50/50 of interaction and people who have gotten it working again after it stopped. It’s odd . So it’s really a 2 1/2 stars. Fingers crossed things get worked out soon.

Not built for iPad, doesn’t always connect, settings are hidden and buried in weird places. Please move these features over to the Zwift app (which is fantastic for the few features if has) and at minimum this app should be rebuilt for iPad as many riders use a tablet as their display. I’m a loyal Zwift user, hardware, software etc, but please please fix this app; it feels like an after thought.

I could go on and on about how flawed this app was. Whenever I leave the app to do other things on my phone when training, it disconnects. This is particularly annoying when doing 2.5+ hour rides. Zwift connect is not built for athletes.

As of iOS 16 the companion app no longer pairs with the zwift hub, there is no way to update my hub’s firmware

All the years Ive used Zwift and Ive had maybe 2 times when the Apple Watch successfully recorded heart rate in-game

For several months I have been unable to get the app to resister that I am in a map / ride. No one seems to be able to help and all the advice online is just “yeah sometimes it does that for a while make sure you’re on the same WiFi”. We pay a crazy amount of money in subscription costs this app should work.

Just doesn’t work consistently anymore

Completely locks up randomly and there is nothing you can do but force quit the app. The Apple Watch portion to connect HR is also horribly unreliable and some days won’t work for seemingly no reason
