Doesn’t work
Homepod went out of function (probably because of automatic update) while I’m away and now the whole home is down. Very disappointed. I am in a different country can’t come back to fix it.
O have quite a few IoT (ca.1. 15) devices at home but none of them is apple compatible, apple being apple makes it hard for anyone to connect to their ecosystem I use google home instead because it supports ALL of my devices and only app that supports ALL makes sense for smart home…
I can’t change the voice ahhhhh
It’s actually quite the opposite to Apples usual apps! It’s very difficult to link your smart devices from TP Link , Ember heating system , HK Vision Camera, Oil tank Monitor by Kingspan Connect. I would have thought being an Apple app it would link this stuff automatically like Google Home does! Very annoying!
I hate “Discover” section. I don’t want it and I pay enough Apple tax to deserve the pleasure of not being manipulated into bad overpriced merchandise, i.e. Nanoleaf LEDs which work great until they crash miserably, refuse to pair or start flashing in the middle of the night. At least I should be able to switch that tab off - it’s useless and I’m not a noob. Home Assistant is so far ahead in terms of functionality, Apple can learn a lot but they don’t seem to. Control Centre still doesn’t let me specify my devices, but some small improvement has been made. Matter is unreliable across the board, perhaps not directly Apple’s fault, but it’s a half baked cake so take responsibility.
I expect this review to be denied publication. Apple like to censor negative reviews about their awful products. Home is why Google are streets ahead when it comes to home automation. I tried to add some, excellent, Tapo bulbs to the Home app to see if I could be bothered to use “hey, waste-of-time, siri”. No surprise, siri couldn’t do it. Home couldn’t do it. Apple can’t do it. As usual, I’m copying this to the regulator in Ireland.
Apple needs to look further afield to allow seamless HomeKit integration of popular smart devices like Roombas
Good for smart home app, using HomeBridge and other accessories and works perfectly apart from my JBL Soundbar that has AirPlay 2 and just won’t add to Home no matter what. It just says Failed to Connect to AirPlay, even though my iPhone is connected. And also I find it really stupid that I can’t add family members without a hub. All of my family use Apple devices but I can’t add them cause I don’t have an Apple TV or HomePod, why?
This app works 3 times out of 10. It’s more frustrating than it is useful
