Easily and securely control your smart home using your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, Apple TV, Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
Features
Home tab makes it easier to navigate, organise, view and control all your smart home accessories.
Categories for climate, lights, security, speakers and TVs, and water allow for quick access to all the accessories for that specific category.
A multi-camera view displays up to four cameras in the Home tab and you can scroll to see any additional cameras.
Guest access provides date- and time- based access to locks, garage doors and alarm systems for visitors in the Home app.*⁺
Activity History lets you see a recent history for garage door, door lock, security systems and contact sensor events*
Grid Forecast uses data from your local electric grid to show when it will be running on cleaner sources, so you can plan when to charge devices or run appliances. (Contiguous US Only)
Electricity usage and rate plan information are displayed for eligible customers when connecting their utility account to the Home app and using the latest software — starting with PG&E in California. (US only)
Siri makes it easy to use your voice to control accessories. Say a phrase like “Lock the front door” or “Play jazz in the living room”, or create a scene and say “Goodnight” to turn off all your lights.
Widgets on iPhone and iPad give you the ability to see the status of your home and access relevant accessories.
Control Centre gives you quick access to control your favourite accessories and scenes, and features a dedicated and customisable section for additional accessories and scenes.
Home app on Apple Watch displays relevant accessories you'll most likely need at the top for immediate access and then all accessories in favourites, cameras and rooms.
HomePod or other AirPlay-enabled speakers can be added in the Home app to control your smart home and play music in any room in your house.
HomePod and Apple TV act as a home hub to manage your home while you’re away. Automatically run scenes and control accessories based on your location, the time of day, a sensor detection or the action of an accessory.
HomeKit Secure Video*** lets you view live video and recordings as well as get rich notifications when people, pets, vehicles or package deliveries are detected from your security cameras or video doorbell. View a 10-day recording history in the Home app and you can share or save recordings.
Adaptive lighting** lets you set compatible light bulbs to automatically adjust their colour temperature throughout the day to help maximise comfort and productivity. Wake up in the morning to warm colours, stay alert at midday with cooler tones and wind down at night by removing blue light.
Accessories compatible with the Matter smart home connectivity standard are supported seamlessly in the Home app alongside your HomeKit-enabled accessories, so you can control them easily and securely using the Home app and Siri on your Apple devices.
* Available for homes using the new Home architecture and an Apple TV or HomePod acting as a home hub.
** Requires an Apple TV or HomePod acting as a home hub.
*** Requires a HomePod or Apple TV as a home hub and an iCloud+ plan.

The homepod went out of function while I’m away in a different country

Homepod went out of function (probably because of automatic update) while I’m away and now the whole home is down. Very disappointed. I am in a different country can’t come back to fix it.

Supposedly good app of you ever found a device that works with it

O have quite a few IoT (ca.1. 15) devices at home but none of them is apple compatible, apple being apple makes it hard for anyone to connect to their ecosystem I use google home instead because it supports ALL of my devices and only app that supports ALL makes sense for smart home…

A bit annoying

Not a user friendly or good app

It’s actually quite the opposite to Apples usual apps! It’s very difficult to link your smart devices from TP Link , Ember heating system , HK Vision Camera, Oil tank Monitor by Kingspan Connect. I would have thought being an Apple app it would link this stuff automatically like Google Home does! Very annoying!

Good but dated and neglected, so few advancements

I hate “Discover” section. I don’t want it and I pay enough Apple tax to deserve the pleasure of not being manipulated into bad overpriced merchandise, i.e. Nanoleaf LEDs which work great until they crash miserably, refuse to pair or start flashing in the middle of the night. At least I should be able to switch that tab off - it’s useless and I’m not a noob. Home Assistant is so far ahead in terms of functionality, Apple can learn a lot but they don’t seem to. Control Centre still doesn’t let me specify my devices, but some small improvement has been made. Matter is unreliable across the board, perhaps not directly Apple’s fault, but it’s a half baked cake so take responsibility.

Absolutely rubbish.

I expect this review to be denied publication. Apple like to censor negative reviews about their awful products. Home is why Google are streets ahead when it comes to home automation. I tried to add some, excellent, Tapo bulbs to the Home app to see if I could be bothered to use “hey, waste-of-time, siri”. No surprise, siri couldn’t do it. Home couldn’t do it. Apple can’t do it. As usual, I’m copying this to the regulator in Ireland.

Needs iRobot Roomba compatibility

Apple needs to look further afield to allow seamless HomeKit integration of popular smart devices like Roombas

Good for smart home app, using HomeBridge and other accessories and works perfectly apart from my JBL Soundbar that has AirPlay 2 and just won’t add to Home no matter what. It just says Failed to Connect to AirPlay, even though my iPhone is connected. And also I find it really stupid that I can’t add family members without a hub. All of my family use Apple devices but I can’t add them cause I don’t have an Apple TV or HomePod, why?

Terrible

This app works 3 times out of 10. It’s more frustrating than it is useful
