Great App

I’ve been using this app for a while now and I love it. It is so handy to be able to take this to the musician, on the iPad with minimal gear and very low setup time. Are there areas needing to be tweaked ? Yes. Are there easy workarounds for these ? Yes It’s very easy to use and the plugins available are excellent. The built in effects, EQ, Compressor etc are pretty decent and then add the fabfilter plugins and this app is quite something. I’ve been recording for around 15 years now and this app is a blessing. I have an issue with saving direct to Dropbox , at the minute , but there’s a super easy alternative way of doing this. Other issue I’m having at the moment is that the display doesn’t fill the screen , after I upgrading recently to iPad M4 2024. I’ve contacted the developer and this is being looked in to - I received a very quick reply. These issues have not hindered me , I have to say. This app is a hairs breadth away from being amazing and I’d have no qualms about recommending it.

Still completely dreadful

I have 30 years studio experience, working as a pro all that time. I purchased this expensive app many years ago in the first months of it’s life to give me a very portable mobile solution. It was dreadful when it came out, and it is still dreadful in 2024… I requested a refund back then - not forthcoming. So just for a laugh, I thought I’d give it a try again today. Long story short, it was no fun at all and seems completely un-developed and just as garbage as it has always been. I am a certified Ableton instructor and use Live, Pro Tools and Reaper on a daily basis. On iPad, because Auria does not, and has never worked properly I am stuck with using Cubasis on the tablet for quick ideas when inspiration strikes. So what is wrong with Auria? The list is extensive, to say the least… Endless crashes, illogical workflow, hopeless / non-existent integration of plugins, including the entire Fabfilter suite, any plugin synths etc etc… If you spend your money on this monumental ripoff, all you will have purchased is endless, unreliable, unusable frustration… and they will fail to refund your purchase, despite the product being completely unsuitable and clearly a fraud of an app… because to describe it in it’s name as “Pro” is a total fallacy. Apple should intervene and fully refund dissatisfled customers and recover the money from the “developer”. I truly cannot think of a single positive thing to say about Auria “Pro”

Doesn’t work with midi controllers?

I’ve had this for some time and never been able to use it. My midi controller appears under midi settings, but that’s all it does. This app doesn’t appear to be setup for anything other than editing midi from elsewhere. There is no way to use a midi controller to write music with it as far as I can tell.

A desktop class DAW for iPad

I am just discovering the app despite the fact I know its existence on the IPad ecosystem for years. As a Pro Tools user, I am not lost with Auria Pro. Auria Pro delivers a pro audio and MIDI environment, versatile and powerful. The MIDI implementation is amazing, the MIDI channel strip is absolutely genius! We can still argue about the oldish UI (that’s true), but when the app delivers, it delivers! Some people complain about the stability. I just started using it so I couldn’t give too much feedback, however I encountered no issues or crash so far. Congrats to the developers! I hope you will be able to push it further because even if Logic Pro or Cubasis appears more intuitive, Auria Pro is still far beyond!

I have all the top daws on iPad,Logic Pro and cubasis ,garage band.Auria pro by far is the best out the bunch for me.for old school recording it just does the job.Every thing is just quick to work with,no clutter like on the other daws ,hunting through loads of menues.I admit I am not in loops and samples or software instruments, but rather real instruments and no auto tune like the Beatles and other great talent. The only thing I wish Auria pro would do is automatically size 3rd party plugins like the other daws do,rather then scale them your self by dragging the corners. If you read this Auria could you sort this out, then it would be a 10 out 10 daw. Thanks Auria pro for a great daw to work on.

Crashes

asdhine on

Vereinigtes Königreich

First ten minute after spending £50 it crashed, and then crashed, and crashed again. It crashed on basic things like touching tabs, and the keyboard, and then it would not reload the project. I read it was unstable, but didn’t think it was unusable. Waste money, I think. Something like this should not be sold.

Unfit for purpose

TheWightGuy on

When an app consistently won’t load its own files, and nothing is done to correct this for many months, Apple should step in and tell the developer to either fix it or remove it from the App Store. Nothing calling itself ‘pro’ should be allowed to treat paying customers this way. Auria Pro started out with so much promise, was never cheap, and had YEARS to become the number one IOS DAW. Instead, it has steadily deteriorated due to neglect. Very sadly, it is now unfit for purpose. I have dozens of projects I now have to rebuild from scratch in another DAW, because I believed in AP. Never again.

Not beginner friendly

If you have a good deal of experience using desktop DAWS, particularly something like Reaper, which also has a steep learning curve, and fairly similar workflow, you will probably like this app. If lacking that relevant experience, you will very likely find it frustrating as heck in the beginning… and for the first few weeks. I’ve had Auria Pro on my iPad for probably 7 years and I can report it no longer crashes without warning every 5 minutes. Down to about 2 crashes per session now. So it is finally quite useable. I applaud the developer’s attempt to make an attempt at a “proper DAW” for iPad. It has a workflow that anybody with sound industry experience will understand and no doubt you could achieve decent results with a good deal of practice. If you don’t have a Macbook or want to travel very light and sketch out musical ideas, it will do that well. If you have a selection of IOS synths, drums etc, they open and run okay too. I do think that better screen-switching capabilities would help workflow and the lack of a comprehensive set of video how-to’s, such as are freely available for Reaper users would have greatly reduced the number of negative reviews, and end-user frustration. This is highly unlikely to ever be a credible substitute for laptop / desktop DAWS like Reaper, or Ableton etc. but iPad hardware is becoming more capable. Would I spend £49.95 on it again? I don’t think so - too many years of it not working even remotely well enough for casual use, and support that is far less useful than that offered by Reaper and Ableton, even now it is a long-established app. All that said, no other iPad DAW is remotely as full-featured. So it will be a godsend to some, and it beats both Garageband and Cubasis3 by some margin. They have tried very hard to offer a genuine alternative to a MacOS DAW, and succeeded, but with limitations that a patient home-user could probably live with… And also flatten the learning curve if they subsequently move on to Reaper etc.

I won’t bore you with a cascade of the failings of this app but it has been a bug ridden mess for 10 years . On IOS if you need a DAW which is truly open and go ..forget this one

AURIA PRO Still the best.

Auria Pro remains the most fully featured App on this platform with outstanding audio editing tools that no other IOS offerings can match. Yes there are prettier looking interfaces to be seen as in the likes of Cubasis etc but it’s the depth of editing utilities in Auria that push this App into another league. It is more complicated to use than other DAWS on this platform which means a longer learning curve. Sadly those that give up when they can’t get to grips with the complexity of Auria tend to react with a low star rating. It is not bug free but that can be said about any Daw on this platform. Auria Pro remains my go to App and deserves a much higher rating. I also use Cubase 3 for some projects but the lack of any serious worthwhile audio editing tools makes this app inferior to Auria Pro.
