Bible Gateway

App says you can download versions to read offline but I’ve found that to be impossible. Have been in contact with their tech folks for weeks now and they are no help. Don’t waste your time! There are other Bible apps that really do work!

This app used to be good but now with all the ads they disable the opportunity to search for scripture and have you listen to it. Very disappointing.

This used to be the go to app for quick Bible references and deep studies, but as of a while ago, someone thought it would be a good idea to add ads and it’s ruined the entire experience.

Every day I need to uninstall this app and reinstall from the App Store. The screens come up blank and I cannot access anything. Tech support said to reinstall, which fixes it only until the next time I launch it.

I was advised to download this app, and that it no ads. But once I downloaded it, it had ads. I don’t want to look at ads while reading the Bible. Disappointed

Get Rid of the Ads! You are bombarded with advertisements. Not going to use it anymore and will delete it.

I just downloaded this app to have scripture in audio since I don’t see well. The audio portion doesn’t seem to work at all on the app. I wish I hadn’t downloaded this app because, not only does the audio not work, but to download the Authorized KJV it required me to give my email address and agree to receive promotional emails from the publisher, so now my email account will receive those but the app is not even usable. 😞

Use to use this app ALL the time for use with daily Bible reading, in classes, worship service, etc. Now, however it is almost impossible to get to the scripture in less than 5-6 minutes. For some reason, after the app loads all of the kiddie game apps pop up wanting you to sign up or download and you have to figure a way to get out of that to get to the actual Bible scriptures. Once you get to the scripture search you can usually locate the desired reading without a problem. In the past, I was able to just open the app on my phone and get the dashboard to locate another scripture. Now, however, I have to delete the app I have loaded and re-load the app and go through rejecting all the other advertisements to get to Bible Gateway. Is that because this is a free app? I don’t remember having to delete the app before and re-load the app every time I wanted to look up a scripture. I like Bible Gateway, but having to delete and read-load the app each time I want to look up a scripture is not my idea of convenience. There must be something else that compares to the former Bible Gateway app that allows you to exit the app and re-enter at a later time without having to delete, download, re-load and wade through multiple advertisements to get the info you are seeking. Am I missing something with the new app?

Problems problems problems I signed up through Apple Pay then I go back to try to use the app and you didn’t even subscribe me ! Like I indicated to you ! You need to take the app off of android and apple stores until you get the app working properly on all phone and those phone tablet systems that they have on them! The negative reviews on android and apple don’t represent the Jesus I know and love! It is obvious to me that there hasn’t been any love real meaningful updates for years! And when I had long ago I cancelled to because of the problem . When I wanted to try the app again the same old same old problems! It’s obvious to me that you responding to the complaints but not doing anything on your end to fix the peoples issue! This app was a mess when I signed long ago and still a mess today today today! Fix your problems! The people on here are kind enough to tell like me what they are! You told to get my refund and that’s exactly what I am doing! Because you had have the answers to fix the problem especially mine just signing up! Look it’s not your customers problem it’s yours listen to your customers! What a devilish mess and I am a Christian and saying my truth man come get something right love your customers! And can I get a Nkjv life application Bible for free after having to spend and hour on the phone with Apple and spending a lot of time out of my day on 5/23/2025 dealing with your drama This is my truth not my opinion of the situation! Outrageous as is truly is! The problem I experienced was on may 23,2025 and your just now on June 3 getting back to me! I gave up on you a long time ago. For my trouble I ask you to buy me a Nkjv life application bible large print for my time you wasted. You’ve had since may 23 2025! Not giving you any more of my time. Seemed like a bunch of A.I. not happy about what happened to me. I have found others resources that I have had no problems with and am very happy with! So thanks but no thanks! I’ve been using this app for a few weeks but recently decided to try out all the features: The audio for the bibles that offer them does not work. I would suggest to fix but if you can’t, please remove it. Also the update from late May 2025 has caused more issues than before the update. I can no longer access the main bible outside when I go to the menu tab it’s blank. I was able to do a workaround to access it by going to my favorites tab and clicking on a random saved scripture. I just tried pulling up Psalms 22 via scrolling but it was stuck on Psalms 18. I have to manually scroll to get there. Lastly, if I hold my phone from portrait to landscape or vice versa, whatever scripture I was will move a few chapters back on its own. These are not complaints because I truly love this app. I don’t care to mention the ads. You have to make money but I wanted you to be aware of the unintended effects.
