Day One Journal: Private Diary

I have had this app since (checking my first entry now) 10th February 2012. That’s almost thirteen years ago. I don’t think I need to say much more than that, this app is very close to my heart.

I absolutely love this journal … it’s been a life saver . I have MS and chronic pain … and was drawn to journal , and page one turned up. I purposely just put good stuff in it … that way it’s an absolute pleasure to go back on my entries .. it actually highlights all my joys. Even when I can’t go outside I find so much to fill each page because of the multimedia facilities.. it makes an absolutely amazing prayer journal also. And I have challenges like bird of the day, flower of the day , saint of the day, etc where I search online and then add my own pics and videos if I do venture out.. I also add pics and videos sent to me by friends … I simply love this so much . Without being too dramatic … 😂 it has been life changing !

I use DayOne every day. I love being able to record milestones and special events having my text logged with pictures, locations and even the weather on that day. It’s a joy to work with. All round brilliant.

I've been using this app for many years, and things have not always been this way. But lately, whenever I write to support I am getting a generic reply that has no relation to my issue whatsoever. What's worse, the replies always start with "we only offer support to premium users on this channel", which is great and all, but I am a premium user and I said so at the very beginning of my email (based on previous experience, sigh). I currently have no idea how to get actual support for any issue, which is extra sad because it really didn't use to be this way; up to a point support used to be friendly and responsive, and now it's pretty much the opposite of that.

I’ve been a plus/premium user for around 6 years and have always liked the app. However, I’ve recently discovered many older entries are now missing the photos/videos I added. Very frustrating, as it would take hours and hours to go through them all, find the correct media again and re-add them. It seems that Day One’s servers are not very reliable.

I have been using this app for 8 years now, It is very user friendly, elegant yet has a lot of options for everyone.

This was a great app with great options. My issue: 1. I bought this app for my laptop and my mobile device. Now they are into subscription based and keep taunting you for the options they put behind this subscription. Like audio notes. I have 2. Pencil implementation is not greatly done. I am into writing journals with my pencil and this is just not that easy in day one. 3. I believe that they did build a great app in the time, but did not move with the time as we are in now. - Journaling needs to be possible as a notebook and you should be able to easily use the pencil to draw. - Moving towards subscription with no real on the edge development other then just updating it is not a good model for me. Sadly I am moving away from this app as for me GoodNotes fits better into this. All the automation I used to log things into me day one with IFTTT is not longer something I need and the app feels outdated. The app to me feels like they are keeping the lights on and cashing in on the subscription. But I do not see them moving forwards. Sorry.

Great app would love to see a function to save searchable handwritten notes added.
