I throughly enjoy the convenience provided through the Ecobee application. The ability to remote monitor and control my environments is easy and secure.

It came with my new furnace and heat pump and you can’t get rid of the smart features, especially the sleep comfort setting, I micromanage my heat because we have an old house and other reasons and I need it to let me. It has no idea how to properly talk to Home Kit either, usually stuff Apple sells in their stores works well with Apple products.

There are better smart thermostats out there. Ecobee was good for a while. Then they got greedy.

Have typically loved this app. But lately, it’s been practically worthless. Comfort settings are not saving with what I input. Have tried exiting the app, waiting a couple days, etc and still no luck. $300 on thermostats and I can’t properly program them

The app has been broken for a while now, it always tries to get me to enroll in eco+, but I don’t want that so I click not interested (please add an option to permanently opt out! I never will want this!). After that any of the panels that fly out like settings, weather, or quick changes immediately close and don’t let me interact with them. This is on iOS 18.2 on an iPhone 16 pro max.

Continuously stuck in eco mode and app won’t change temperature due to server connection issue. Not sure if this is an app issue or what but since you can’t manually restart the device, I am forced to pull it off the wall just to fix it. I used to recommend ecobee but how can I if my own device is held hostage. Such a nightmare.

New update got rid of all of the graphs of my energy use and when the unit was on in favor of some dumb “vacation” setting that I didn’t want or need. UI is a bit clunky and it’s hard to find things, so maybe it’s still in there somewhere but I can’t find it. It does work well to control the HVAC units. But otherwise.. meh.

The product page for doorbell camera is misleading. “HomeKit Secure video is not supported.” should not be a small print on your webpage.

The app is poorly organized, and more importantly not able to be reliably controlled away from house. Eco mode is stuck on, and can’t be stopped remotely due to “server issues”. I had far more success with a NEST.

From UI design to deceptive logic, ecobee continues to be the annoying acquaintance that insists they are smarter and know what people want better than themselves. I write this after several instances of the heater running despite the room’s temp being higher than threshold, all “smart” logic disabled, and fan set to never and yet, I’m literally standing in this room with the heater running. Again I am in a room where the heater is running despite room temp above threshold. Time and time again I am reminded to submit yet another 1 star review.
