One of the best mobile game!
This mobile game is easy to get in but actually has quite a complex combat that is really rewarding to master. The first thing that actually grabbed me was my love of gladiators and the graphics in the game. You will find the pixel art style is quite attractive. The details and silhouette of each weapon and armor are distinctly created, the model of the gladiator is nice and crisp and the wide beautiful views in the background of the arenas let you immerse yourself in the grand setting the game has. The setting of the game is in ancient Rome where you play as gladiator, a person engaged in a fight for public entertainment in an arena. There are many game types included in the menu like Career mode, Arcade, Multiplayer and Quick Fight. Before I talk about each mode, the combat of this mobile game is super interesting. Like the name said, Gladhoppers, a combination of the word gladiator and hoppers has an actual feature in the game. The way you move in this game is by hopping back and forth in a 2D plane which makes the game feel not in your control all the time because it’s not as precise as walking like other fighting games. The way you attack in this game is quite varied. There are two stances you can hold before attacking, upper and lower stance with 4 action buttons which are quick attack, up attack, down attack and punch. The 3 attack provides significant damage but interestingly the punch lets you knock your opponent back quite far away to provide space between you and them with the drawback of little to no damage at all. With every gameplay aspect combined, you can already guess that the gameplay sounds complex but it’s actually not hard to get in. Plus after you master the combat, it is rewarding to play the game normally and against your friend. The main focus of the game is the Career mode where you start by being a poor slave that has to work your way up to become famous by winning each combat fight. The goal is to get a highest fame score by staying alive and continuing to progress through each fight. As the game progresses and you win more fights, the tougher the opponent gets and you have to manage your money to buy gears and train yourself the right attribute to win against them. The fun character creator part is where you are able to choose how you play the game.
