No new material. App lags.
I would rate this higher but I get the impression this is a mostly abandoned app at this point. No new material and something has said ‘temporarily unavailable’ for months. And the last update was a year ago.
I would rate Happy Not Perfect a 4/5 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed the mind workouts, mindfulness resources, and podcast episodes and feel that they adequately supported the app’s goal of promoting users’ mental health. I’m also rating the app positively since it successfully incorporated components that appeal to its adolescent audience such as a reward system, feeling identification exercises and a social aspect. The visuals and sound were very high quality, and positively increased the aesthetic and usability of the app. I found the app very easy and enjoyable to use, the registration process was also straightforward. Happy Not Perfect challenges its adolescent users to engage in thought-provoking reflection in a way that feels low-pressure and manageable. Murphy et al. (2013) assert that adolescent years are characterized by identity formation and experimentation, and when used correctly, social networks may allow adolescents to explore their identity. Happy Not Perfect facilitates identity exploration by providing compelling journal prompts that require contemplation. Through the app, adolescents can explore their values, strengths, and fears, and ultimately form a stronger sense of self. Beyond forming a stronger sense of self, Happy Not Perfect implements a social component by allowing users to “send vibes” to their friends. While this social component is not necessary for the overall functioning of the app, it increases its effectiveness and appropriateness for adolescent users. During adolescence, youth increasingly crave social connection and belongingness (Murphy et al., 2013). The option to “send vibes” to friends encourages positive social connections that could increase their sense of belonging. Happy Not Perfect also implores the use of a rewards system by providing users with an “achievement award” and a corresponding character upon completion of mind workouts and meditation exercises. This reward system contributes to my positive high rating of the app as it is highly compelling for its adolescent users. Like “sending vibes”, the “achievement awards” are not necessary to the functioning of the app, but appeal to adolescents. Steinberg (2014) reports that during adolescence, the brain experiences a significant increase in dopamine receptors. This surge prompts greater reward sensitivity and responsiveness. Even the simple and understated “achievement awards” can release dopamine and be reinforcing for adolescents. Users are likely to contin
Literally two days and I’ve noticed a difference. Even on the first day, I noticed one. I have really bad insomnia, but I slept completely last night, and probably will tonight too. My overthinking disappeared, and the sleep feature knocked me out. All of this, FOR FREE!! So much you can get without a membership on this app. Will be using this for the rest of my life. ✌️
I love this app when I am overwhelmed overthinking I use this app to slow down and refocus
This is one of very few mental health apps that I find actually help me.
For me this is the perfect amount of every little mindful motivation and relaxation for my day.
It’s like a really good app and it’s helped me out a lot but I really hate all the cursing
I liked it, but I don’t like how you have to wait a day to watch the second video. But other than that it’s a good app. I think it is a good way to cool down, feel better and take care of yourself.
I used this for a sleep meditation, so I fell asleep. The app seems great, but then you can’t keep listening to the meditation without you phone unlocked. Then if you fall asleep it also prevents the automatic phone lock from working. I woke up to my phone still lit up from 8 hours earlier and my battery almost depleted. Not really the ideal….
