IONITY PASSPORT
Discover the IONITY PASSPORT through our app and choose the plan that suits your charging needs: IONITY PASSPORT MOTION or IONITY PASSPORT POWER.
The IONITY PASSPORT MOTION is ideal for drivers who usually take short to medium trips but sometimes venture further afield. With a low monthly fee that covers itself after just one charge, you’ll save on every kWh used!
The IONITY PASSPORT POWER is perfect for those who regularly travel long distances. After your second charge, the monthly fee effectively pays for itself, offering substantial savings on each kWh.
Benefits of both plans include:

• Flexible terms — change plans or cancel monthly
• Easy subscription and payment directly through the IONITY app

Payment and authorisation
I have charged twice today and twice had to go through the payment and authorisation. It remains to be seen what is on my bank statement because it would appear that I’ve been pre-authorised twice for each charging session so that’s two charging sessions and four authorisations. That’s not what I really paid for, hence one star.
Mr
Not happy with IONITY charging as it takes £40 out as soon as you start charging and then the session keeps cutting off. So you pay again which means another £40 taken out of your account and it takes up to 5 days to get it refunded. When it works it is good but my experience hasn’t been great
Terrible and useless from the start
Terrible from the start, both the app and the website doesn't seem to remember the correct password even after resetting it straight away...garbage.
Unhappy about App design
In theory, hooking up to IONITY chargers is straightforward.
However, the in-practice experience of this elderly (76) user is different.
Consider this, I arrive in my VW ID4 after 100 miles of motorway driving knowing I need to charge to get home without anxiety.
It’s raining heavily, there’s no cover over the charging points, the light is fading, I’m tired, I’ve been anxious the last few miles. I’ve used IONITY just twice before.
The instructions on the charger are, to put it mildly, not clear or helpful.
Should I use a credit card or the App (which I have signed up to) or my RFID cards (Elli and Electroverse). Should I plug in first or later. Do I show my card(s) to the card reader or the prominent reader sign? And if so what is the best choice and best way forward and in what sequence? No clear answers on the charger to any of these questions.
I revert to the App. It starts well, I chose a numbered charger. So far so good.
Then it goes wrong. The App takes me through a number of screens - but the instructions/ comments on each screen are in a tasteful purple on a dark background in what to me is a very small typeface. It’s unreadable unless I put my reading glasses on - and they’re in the car.
I struggle on and apparently make some wrong move that the charger doesn’t like. I try to start again. The cable is locked into the car. Eventually I release it and move to another charge point. After further fumbling attempts, the car starts to charge. It’s incredibly fast and I’m really happy.
So, I admit I’m old, but I have an honours degree, I’m not stupid. I am perhaps more anxious than a younger person.
Solutions?
Charging Points
The guidance on the charging points needs urgent updating with clear references to the now multiple options for payment.
They also need clear point by point guidance on the process suitable for dummies like myself.
The App
Similarly, the App needs a clear up-to-date, point-by-point guide on how to chose a payment system at point of use at the charger and, most importantly, the text on screens in a larger typeface with an easy-to-read typeface in a colour chosen for readability rather than conforming to a corporate colour palate.
Summary
Without meaning to be critical, I do think your customer-facing design team does need to give greater consideration to the needs of those of us who are not eager young fashionable types who are early adopters and learn easily, but are elderly and slower to learn but wish to do our b
Quick and easy
Quick and easy to use. Good rate when you subscribe to the monthly pass. Need more of these dotted around locally to use.
Rubbish not disabled friendly
I pulled up could not use app then could not plug in properly short cable and on top of that the woman who I called on support did not give a dam.
Would not take mobility app or even from the app itself after account setup.
Then when failed no option to pay with scanner for debit cards.
Rubbish go down road it’s cheaper and better scam plug and go high speed
Don’t use ionity
Screen impossible to see
Very fiddly to set up and the colours of the screen make it almost impossible to see.
Great EV Charger
Always happy with these EV Chargers, but you can only use them if you have the app, which is frustrating when you first use them.
Metro centre
All worked well, good fast charge while i had a coffee over the road in Starbucks with free WiFi
IONITY App
Impossible to read with the black background. Especially in the sun. Not at all intuitive - I get it wrong every time
