Joplin has a massive bug on my phone. Where attempting to exit a note after reading it will make the entire UI jump out of view to the very top of the screen. That said, despite not being usable in its current state, it still gets 4 stars because it's open-source.

It is an open source Evernote alternative (has clients for all systems, including a WebClipper), plus the notes are Markdown based.

The whole thing is good. But! But I lost all my recent data because I synced with the wrong database. All gone, no warnings, no conflict resolution, no recourse. It's insane.

This is very much a beta version. It should not have been released in this state.

There is a lot that could be said here, so I'll keep it to the most important: The app has not been consistent in its functionality on iOS, namely in regards to its ability to sync with a remote source. I would not have started using Joplin if I knew this would happen. Your mileage may vary.

I have been using this app for journaling and keeping track of notes. Just this morning it deleted all of my notebooks and notes. I would not recommend using this for anything important. I have yet to find out how to restore my notes (if it is possible). Very disappointing.

Please consider including and codifying change log and significant update notes directly in the App Store listing as opposed to sending users to a 3rd party web page.

I used this and the basic Joplin Cloud for much better security, and it came with no problems. It simply works, including for being transferred (remember to give it time to sync) or printing from a computer, and it's formatted nicely on at least mobile devices. Though it does its job perfectly, I reassessed the options and switched back to apple notes, which I feel encrypts my data more reliably and cheaply with my settings.
