Kyte - Rental cars, your way.

My first experience with Kyte (Boston) was fantastic, both the delivery and handover were really smooth, even when we badly estimated the handover time due to traffic. Kyte was kind enough to reschedule on the good.

I’ve rented from Kyte since 2020 but can no longer recommend them and will be taking my business elsewhere. Kyte is preying on unassuming customers by renting the car at 7/8 full. If you bring it back full, they won’t reimburse you and if you bring it back less than 7/8, they up-charge you the difference at a higher rate. Utterly pathetic and shameful business practice. Rising rates I can understand, trashy unresponsive app - typical these days in tech, but slimly attempts to skim money off customers like this, unforgivable.

This issue could have been resolved without cancelling my order. Now I have to pay for a larger car and it is a very high cost for me .

I’ll do my best to keep this short and concise. I received a citations while renting a Kyte vehicle in CO. (The ticket was for changing lanes on the freeway when I was not allowed to 😵‍💫 but that’s on CO, not Kyte.) We were not aware of this citation because it was sent directly to Kyte via mail. Kyte did not inform us of the citation until AFTER the payment deadline, causing our fine to double, then charged our credit card the doubled amount. I reached out to Kyte (only via email, I could not find a phone number) to explain the situation. It seemed fair that they only charge us the initial ticket amount (instead of the doubled price). After some back and they proved to be inflexible and not understanding of a reasonable request… we would pay the initial amount and Kyte covers the rest due to their lack in communication. No go. The rental experience was actually pretty good until this moment. However, we will not rent from Kyte again because of their rigidity in customer service.

They said I am ineligible and cancelled my trip a week out. They don’t even really tell you why, just a link to their terms and conditions. Awful and unreliable use any other car rental company.

It expects you to text while driving. You will get messages while behind the wheel that are contradictory and if you reply a message that the conversation is not supported and you have to open the app. Which will be a bot (they were all named Jade supposedly). Negotiating traffic trying to get to the garage quickly as the bot said the late fee was waived. Dangerous business model. Even more dangerous than texting while driving really as you cannot use voice function. So they said no fee then after I returned the car the extra day charge of $100 was applied. I would have used the car for the day I paid for. Policies not transparent and again, REQUIRES TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. Super stressful

Weeks After making reservations they disabled my account and cancel my booking without clear explanation they said i do not meet the eligibility requirement. Without explaining anything so disappointed with this service. This what happened when you try new companies. I will not trust new companies again . now I have to go and get a car from other companies. That I would have gotten it cheapy weeks before.

Cheaper isn’t always better
