Mela - Recipe Manager

This has what I need. Unlocks once. Looks good. So far imported all recipes found online.

However, the import of the recipes on the iPhone via the share function sometimes does not work.

Easily the best recipe app I’ve ever found. It’s completely changed my life for recipes. To the creator, please keep supporting it.

I used to use Whisk however since it became Samsung Food it became overly complicated and filled with ads. Mela is such a great alternative, a recipe organiser that does simply that with such a clean UI and functionally. I do wish however that the shopping list section was overhauled, other apps such as Samsung Food and ReciMe have the ability to sort by aisle and group the same items better which is infinitely helpful when at the supermarket. I also I think it would be easier to adjust serving size by simply changing the number of portions rather than the sliding scales which covers the serving number when you use it! Finally being able to add a recipe to multiple categories at once like a checklist rather than the menu disappearing after each new tag would be a nice addition.

I recently switched from Paprika to Mela. I am so glad I did. Mela does (almost) everything I need without any bloat. It’s lean, clean and looks gorgeous. The way everything is presented makes me want to cook. All my recipes looks like they belong in a beautiful cookbook. This app is near perfect. After an hour of using it, I upgraded to Plus. Money well spent. There are a couple of features I would like to see added. Full screen recipes should be exactly that, without an unnecessary pane. Also, it would be great if the recipe scaling slider had smaller increments to allow finer adjustment. And finally, an app this good needs an equally good icon. The developer’s other app, Reeder, has a great icon. I’d love to see one of similar quality for Mela. The plate is indistinctive, forgettable, and it doesn’t stand out on the home screen.

I tried several recipe apps but I really think this is the best for writing/storing your own homemade recipes. The ability to copy and paste ingredients from notes was helpful and the grocery list creation is a very useful feature. Everything about this app just makes sense for my brain!

I love this app. It is impeccably designed, simple, easy to use and at an amazing price. I have been raving about it to all my friends that see me use it. One thing that I think is missing is to be able to filter by multiple tags. To each recipe I assign tags like “main” “vegetarian” “quick” “meat” “side” etc, and it would be great for example if I could see all the main-quick-vegetarian recipes I have (if this feature is available I haven’t been able to find it).

Firstly, and by far the most importantly, this is a beautiful and well-designed app that is easy to use, and generally works very well. However, I have some important suggestions: I love the feature for converting to Metric (though it isn’t always perfectly accurate). However, it is SO ANNOYING how every time I close the app, it switches back to default! I want my recipes to stay in Metric! Also, it does the same thing when adjusting quantities - I’d appreciate if it would keep my adjustments, rather than reverting to 1x. As a paying customer, I would greatly value if these things could be sorted/implemented! Thanks in advance.

I cannot rate this all highly enough. Beautiful design, website parsing works perfectly, and you get a well formatted recipe out of it. This and Reeder are two of my favourite apps.

I use this app daily and I don’t exaggerate when I say it’s been a total game-changer. I’ve gone from an endless set of notes of recipes on my phone/bits of paper/cook books to just having everything in one app. It’s so much easier trying to meal plan for my family. So easy to use and the notes section is so handy. The recipe scanning tool works really well. My only request is for a rating/stars system for the recipes but now I’m just being spoilt!
