Drops internet connection at critical times
The app has been working reasonably well but recently it has started dropping the internet connection to the camera more and more frequently, including every night shortly before 10pm when I am hoping to get some sleep. Our internet is working fine but the app is running simultaneously on two devices (iPad and iPhone) - and simultaneously drops the feed on both. We suspect an issue with VTech’s servers but can’t find information on the issue. The parent unit doesn’t have the range to reach our bedroom with the direct connection… so I just don’t sleep.
Good quality baby monitor but..
The parent monitor has a large screen with a good quality res compared to previous ones we’ve had so handy if your eyesight isn’t too good like mine.
When connected in router mode it seems to loose connection very frequently even though the baby monitor is in the next room. In contrast connecting in direct mode to the baby monitor doesn’t have any disconnection.
Overall a very decent quality camera with a very good resolution if you only need it in live mode. Biggest let down though are the recordings which only show for the last two hours on the app and this has been an issue since we bought the camera 2-3 years ago despite updates to the app. If recordings are a must for you then look elsewhere!
Latest update very unhelpful
Latest update to the software means that the monitor display no longer auto wakes when there is sound. Instead you can hear all sound even when the display is off making it very irritating to use. In addition the display doesn’t auto turn off within 30 seconds after sound has been heard meaning the monitor is always on. Please fix as making it unusable
Ok, keeps losing cameras though
I have 2 cameras. The app connects fine to them but continually loses them, needing to be re-paired via the handset. Also surprised it can’t be used away from home ie keeping an eye on them while being babysat. Functionality is otherwise good.
Disappointing
The motion capture on the app hasn’t been working for ages now, I have emailed support regarding this and have been told more than once that ‘motion detect is currently not available, a firmware update is due to be released shortly’ But apparently they don’t know when this will be, and their idea of ‘shortly’ is currently at 6 weeks and counting. Very unhelpful
Removal of auto wake is crazy
Recent software update on the parent unit means that you have to manually turn the screen off and on at night, where as previously you had to option for it to automatically activate with sound and the turn off again when alls quiet. It was perfect for having on a bedside table.
Genuinely bizarre decision to remove a fairly integral bit of functionality
Password reset fixed but not fully tested
Upon finally being able to receive an email to reset my password, I was presented with a reminder to change my password. I have just changed it! Also, I get the security of changing passwords but I should be able to permanently dismiss this reminder and have 2FA via an app.
1.1.29 messed up auto night mode
Update - it is unreal that you are making it worse and worse with every update. The broken night mode is now fixed, however, with the latest updates you made the app streaming quality so bad it is unusable. Bad quality and excessive lags.. I have not had any issues when bought the cam.. Also why do you need to keep bugging us with constant password change popups? Seemingly the company's new mission us to annoy us.. Otherwise I don't see whats the point of all these nonsense 'updates'..

Hello, seems like the auto night mode toggle disappeared from the settings after updating to 1.1.29. Wife's phone has 1.1.28 and thats still works. Also, the app keeps logging me out since the update, hope its not the experience to stay. An other suggestion, could you change the icon of the light switch and the brightness setting to be more different on the display's software? Easy to confuse them during some sleepless nights when wanting to remove brightness but accidentally turning on the lights on the cam, waking the little one..
Useless
Until recently the app was pretty good. But the app logged me out for no apparent reason, and since then it won’t connect to the camera. The camera still connects to the actual monitor unit (thankfully, otherwise the entire monitor would be useless), but the QR code between phone and camera unit doesn’t work at all.
To make matters worse, when I tried to log out and in again manually it no longer recognised my password. I’ve tried to reset it about a dozen times now and I get no verification code. I’ve checked junk/spam etc to no avail. I’ve even tried setting up an entirely new account and that doesn’t send a verification email either.
So effectively this entire aspect of the unit - mobile phone connection - is now utterly broken. Looking online people have been having this issue for at least the last couple of months. Not impressed at all given the cost of the monitor.
The app’s problem
Since the latest update, the app hasn’t worked as it should’ve been! The video streaming has an issue, it’s not smooth and it should be fixed
