Hard to give more than a 1star rating when the app asks for a phone number, then says it’s not a valid number. Yes. It is. And it’s input correctly.

Charger in Moncton never works…says it works..never fixed…waste of time

The app works well when the towers are working, but falls apart when the chargers are having problems. First, the “call” button makes you call the gas station location where the chargers are. This would be great, if all the local station operators didn’t just tell you “I don’t run those, call the 800 number”. Second, the call center for the 800 number is not 24/7. If it’s close to midnight and you’re having problems with the charger, good luck. And when the station actually is broken, and they’re waiting for parts, the app will still tell you “available”. Apparently available means “we can talk to it, and nobody is charging. But it doesn’t mean “we don’t know of any issue with this station.” And if you do run into problems with a station, and it’s after hours, but you just want to let Petro-Canada know so they can fix it, too bad. You can’t report issues in the app.

In the past 3 weeks I have used these chargers from BC to Ontario. The rate of charging has been very inconsistent and half the card readers have not worked.

First, let’s be honest, none of their charges are fast-chargers. If you find a working one it will likely max out at 45kw not the 200kw they falsely advertise. We should be collectively forcing the government to sue for all their charger funding to be returned for breach of contract. Don’t bother with this app, find other chargers and save the hours you will waste here.

I downloaded the app and tried my charging session today. Sign-up OK. First session charged me $50, couldn’t initiate charging, no charge delivered. 2 minutes later, second session, charged me $50, only slow 40kw charging, terminated session after 11 minutes, charged me $5.17. Got an email receipt for that. Moved to the other charging station, this session charged me $50, but the app said authorization timed out. This last session lasted 22 minutes at a fast rate (>100kw). No receipts for any of the $50 transactions, nor the successful 22 minute charge session. Buyer beware!

The App states charging of 100-350 kWh, but when the vehicle is plugged in, it would max out at 40 kWh with a cost per minute. Charging more with less output to screw you out of more money. Thanks for charging more with less output. Temperature outside was 23 degrees Celsius and car was pre conditioned for charging. Doesn’t really make sense.

Tried to charge at the Petro Canada charge station in Kenora Ontario, I drive an F150 lightning, the cord, barely connected therefore, the charger errored out and would not charge. Clearly, the planners weren’t thinking about full sized vehicles or ease of access. Typical of petro Canada.

They promote up to 300kw. Only got 48-50 kw charge. When paying by the minute. Cost $25 to charge 50%. Makes you wonder if a gas company wants to do charging at all! If your chargers are going to be this slow charge by the kWh not time.

When the charging systems work they are ok. We have learned that Petro Canada is a last resort which is disappointing as they were my number 1 Choice for fuel!
