I am a roadie turned gravel turned bikepacker. This app is essential for planning quality routes and sharing them with your buddies. The ability to search for routes is great when visiting a new place or get inspiration. New functionalities like heat-maps and improved map layers mean you can trust the route youre on.
I’ve tried several routing apps and hands down, RWGPS is the easiest and comprehensive. Easily uploads to my head unit. No complaints, highly recommend.
Helpful when searching for routes in areas you’re not familiar with or creating your own routes wherever you may be. Heat maps can show you roads that have been used before so that helps to know if they are relatively safe.
The ONLY app for heads up bike GPS navigation.
It seems I cannot use my Ride with GPS premium account with the Apple app? So what’s the point? I’m not bringing my computer on the bike ride— I must be misunderstanding something
The best! So much better than the alternatives for route planning and with features developed based on user feedback. Nothing better for long rides, touring, and bikepacking.
I love Ride with GPS. Great route planning, sometimes difficult to search existing routes. And they really need to improve their crop feature. So much easier on Strava. Other than that it’s a five star App. I updated my rating to 4 star because their customer service response is the best of class! They contacted me and gave me some tips for finding rides/routes which helped. I still find the crop feature clumsy and you only get this feature if you’re a “Premium” member.
Now that I know how to keep the screen open while riding this is my goto app for logging and navigating my rides. It would be just about perfect if it had a dark mode option.
I’ve used Ride with GPS on six self-guided bicycle tours with VBT and REI. It’s helpful, but it took me awhile to understand it’s strengths and limitations. It provides a visual map of the route and limited voice guidance. The advantage over Apple Maps or Google Maps, is that one can program a route that includes trails and save these routes for others to use. But unlike the driving navigation apps that I use everyday, if you miss a turn, it will not automatically reroute you and provide updated voice guidance. Instead, there’s a specific chime to alert you that you are off course. This chime repeats until you are back on course, but it’s up to you to determine how best to do that. Once I understood this, I was able to use the app more effectively.
