4 free songs and thats it, if you want to play anything else you have to lock into a £17 a month subscription, yes you read that right £17 A MONTH. About the same price as a 2 or 3 streaming services monthly subscriptions together. An option to buy individual songs would at least give you some control instead of the all or nothing subscription for a song catalogue that quite frankly doesn’t have enough meat on the bones yet. Functionally however this is great, works like a charm, as I say just a shame the business model is atrocious.

I’ve been playing Rocksmith 2014 on bass the past two years on the Mac, and I’ve run Rocksmith+ via Parallels since launch. I can tell you that parallels with realtone cable is only just about playable.. then I found this app this week.. it works really well, very smooth and good graphics, virtually no latency issues with Realtone cable. I do have a usbc multiport adapter by Hubfinder and it also has headphone jack. With a slight tweak of the sound settings +10ms the audio and note timing is spot on.

When using piano it doesn’t support Bluetooth connection, so Bluetooth only keyboards have to use the inconsistent microphone connection. It also doesn’t display the notes your playing or any guide on fingers to use, so unlike other learn to play apps it’s really just a fun game. Missed opportunity.

I loved the Mac version of Rocksmith 2014 and only got rid of my iMac as Rocksmith+ was ‘imminent’. That wasn’t the case so I had to wait a long time… They have done a great job with the iPad/iOS version but there are a few limitations that I’ve yet to oversome: 1. There is one input in an iPad so you can plug in a realtone cable (with a usb>usb-c adaptor) for electric guitar but you cannot plug in earphones too (which is recommended for the game) 2. If to do that and try wireless headphones (I have Beats Pro) then the latency (time it takes from playing a string to hearing it) is too long to use that way 3. I have a multi input dongle type thing but I cannot sure that either to get combo of cable in and wired earphones out. 4. Song availability: given that Rocksmith+ has been available on other formats for a long time I’d have expected a better selection. Lots of “live versions”, named artists but not their big songs, etc. On a positive note they do seem to have most of the catalogue of my favourite band of all time, The Clash. However, most of the tracks that were core songs or DLC for Rocksmith 2014 seem to be gone now :-( 5. It is subscription only, which if they had better song selection would be fine (for me at least!) If they can improve the song choice then this will be fantastic!

Hyper predatory and actually barely works anyways app. Using the iRig2 device to plug into my iPad had like a 240ms delay (which no other app has) probabl because it doesn’t support output to the iRig, only input. And this isn’t adjustable in any way to work with the song you are listening to. You can line up the screen to the song audio, but your guitar isn’t going to line up with it and on top of it it barely registers. So use raw speakers? Oh that also works like garbage. $140 a year for this is an absolute joke. Just buy the original rock smith, or pay one of those super helpful websites less for more help. Skip this please. Don’t let UBI scam you like they always try to do.

Look I get it, learn to play guitar, but for a whole year, that’s ridiculously expensive. Looks like a great app and all, but could easily look up these videos for free on YouTube. If you made the app for free, you’d get more downloads easily, or make it 20 a year.

I think the app and concept is incredible. I’m a fan of Rocksmith 2014 and having that experience on the go is great. I have no problems with the app itself as I think it’s very well designed for all Apple devices. However I think the subscription model is way too expensive to afford, and I find the song library too lackluster to justify it. I think experienced guitarists should put their money towards an UG Pro subscription instead, just saying…

I’m a long time fan of rocksmith. However, in this version, Some of the arcade modes and other fun stuff of the older rocksmiths are missing. Also, please add coop or collaboration. Realtime would be great. If I could jam with my buddies around the world you would have a winner. Thanks!
