Too many songs that are no longer able to pay and the volume is quite low

Extremely disappointing to this day.

Just got back from camping without service for a few weeks on airplane mode. The app logged me out several times so I had to travel to get a signal and log back in and download all my music again but through mobile data, three times. So offline music is not a real feature, and you can find this issue in reviews from TWO YEARS AGO. Neither is last.fm compatibility a real feature; the tracks’ metadata is encoded in a way that all tracks with multiple artists will require manual correction on last.fm because they didn’t want to put the extra featured artists in the song title like everyone else has been doing for a century, and anything you listened to while offline will not get scrobbled. So unless you like paying money to waste time, give up on streaming services, I guess, because you know the developers are using other apps and all these companies are rotten to the core. This one just happens to pay artists more. Oh and they just got rid of crossfade, which is a wildly insane decision like getting rid of the back button would be. It’s a standard feature everywhere so why can’t Tidal roll with it? Pure incompetence. If they wanted to they could seize the market but unfortunately they don’t care. Check out how the update notes have never said what they actually changed or fixed.

I’m trying to make the switch to Tidal, but lack of Watch features is going to be a dealbreaker. The iPhone and Watch apps work independently. You play one, or the other. But you can’t start from your phone and control from your watch like you can with Apple Music. The Watch can’t act as a remote for the phone app. And you can’t browse for music outside of your collection from your watch. 👎👎

better sound in when sound doesnt matter

idk. yes mrs beyonce the sound is better. significantly better. i was seeing artists live and being like “????? what? they dont sound this good on my phone?” the best word i have to describe the difference in sound is “frustrating”. its frustrating b/c i cant exactly describe what is better, BUT i know tidal does sound better. however my friends are on spotify. and there are some ai playlists on spotify i cant leave behind. so, for tidal: you give me a spotify “discover weekly” dupe and im sub’d.

Discover music you will love but ordinarily would never hear

Horrible functionality.

This is possibly the buggiest app I’ve ever used. The sound quality is great, maybe a bit heavy on the bottom end, that’s about the only compliment. While I am driving, I constantly get notifications that “playback has been paused because you are playing on a different device”…the kicker is that I have only downloaded on my phone and not my iPad, so there is no other device. The other automotive issue is that it only displays track info (title, track meter, artist name) for the first song of an album, then goes blank. I have reached out to Tidal and their only advice is to make sure everything is up to date and restart the app when this happens…ok, I’ll just grab my phone out off the mount, unlock it, close the app, reopen the app, and resume playback in rush hour traffic, every minute or two - super safe and helpful suggestion! When streaming at home, into a Wiim Pro Plus, there is no widget on the Lock Screen, so constantly needing to unlock the phone to control or view any track info is the nail in the coffin for this app. Sure it plays music well, but that’s about all. It feels more like an idea of a music streaming platform than a fully executed and finished product ready for consumers.

I’ve always been a huge supporter of this service and still recommend it to anyone serious about high quality music. If you’re not dedicated enough to use wired connections, it won’t make sense to switch from your current streaming service (just the nature of the limitations with wireless audio). I’ve also heard about connection issues from friends and I myself have had weird drops. Having to manually switch to offline mode isn’t ideal if you’re on the road. I would also love to see some music cache to keep things moving smoothly. Other than that, I have no complaints. I’m currently budgeting so YouTube Premium is what I’ll be using.

It’s worth it.

Concept is simple, better sound, higher price. I think if you’re using this on any kind of stereo-capable system, it’s well worth it over other options. There is a significant issue with buffering should you want to use max quality, but I find it’s a here and there thing. If you just want music, use Spotify, if you want to hear the music how it was intended, use Tidal.

Crashhhhhhhh

Is this just an iPhone issue?? I can never use the app on my phone because it consistently crashes. Aside from that I love tidal on my computer.

Better than Crapify
