There does not appear to be any way that Trainline will refund a purchased ticket if the train should be cancelled after boarding it and no alternative available for at least 4 hours.
Thieves and scammers
Absolute thieves. Do not trust your money or your travel to this app. Find ANY other way to travel. Trainline will steal money from you and be rude about it in the process.

Site was very easy to use and saved me over £30. Will definitely use again and would recommend to all .
The app is ok, the company itself is terrible
As the title says. The app is functional. It works. You can book tickets. However, Trainline are terrible. Their refund policy breaches section 45 of the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. They charge a £5 admin fee for refunds of digital tickets. For physical tickets they ask you to post them via recorded delivery to their office and they don’t pay for the postage. They also firmly put the onus on rail operators for the refunds despite being the ticket provider. Do yourself a favour and download the trainpal app instead. The tickets are cheaper and you won’t get fleeced.
