UniFi Protect

Not possible to connect directly to the Protect server located on a SUB network. The app requires remote access to connect directly on a SUB network that comprises the security. The UNIFI app is able so there is no reason why the Protect app should not be able to do the same thing. Unless you are willing to comprise security the app is useless.

I have a MacBook with an M1 processor. I used to be able to run Protect on it, but lately it has not worked and just crashes. It should be an easy fix to make it run also on MacOS understand iOS emulation, which is supported by Apple’s. Thanks!

It’s not possible to use this on LAN. Ubiquity seems to want to force remote access on its customers. Not exactly best practice for surveillance cameras.

The new last watched camera feature is nice, but should not “kick-in” whenever you swipe out the app viewing all cameras. The feature should instead remember the last viewed state and recover to that.

The app crash when i tap one of the camera on the main dashboad to see the camera. Running ios 14.1.

I have it with a G4 pro camera plus the cloudkey gen2 controller with an harddrive. The system is amazing. Superfast app and access. Love how fast you can scroll through the history and how it updates the feed immideately. Going to buy at least one more camera just because I love looking at it through the app.

The app is restarting every time I open it. Both on iPhone and iPad. Ios 13.1.3

The app almost always takes 30+ seconds to connect to the NVR, regardless of whether I am remote or on the internal LAN. That makes the doorbell camera useless. Also, I have a G3 Micro and G3 Instant that always report poor signal no matter how close my access point is to the camera. On the network controller, however, signal shows “excellent”!

I’ve been using the app for over a year now and besides the occasional glitch it just works. Previously used other “marketed to residential customers” wireless camera solutions and this app works more consistently than theirs.
