xKeyboard - Custom Keyboard

So, I downloaded this great app, and expected to be able to make and download my keyboards for free (oh how foolish I was!). I had to pay $5 just for that very thing. EVERYONE WANTS IT FREE! Also, when trying to add a key in the default keyboard, instead of showing the key customization menu, like before, it just says “select a key on the key pad to edit”. What? I did select a key. It wasn’t like this before. Three more things to improve: 1. When I try to add more symbols to the 1000+ symbols, it just says that the limit is 1000. Remove the limit please. 2. Add a counter at the top of my symbols to let me know how many symbols I have. 3. Another limit to remove is the candidate keys. If you want to type every Unicode symbol (like me), then let me add infinite candidate keys to a single key. Overall, great app.

I've hunted for an app like this for a while and no others I have found have the level of customization offered here. I purchased the full version and don’t regret it. That said, I would really appreciate autocorrect being available while using the custom keyboards. I would also really like to have the option to be able to remove the toolbar altogether. I’ve found that I don’t end up using it and it just adds visual clutter. I particularly dislike the permanent logo button since I only ever have one custom keyboard active, so it literally has no function for me. If dictation could be built in, that would also be an added bonus.

The whole point of downloading this FREE app is to get 123 on top of my normal QWERTY board. Why should I pay extra $ for this feature!? Better yet, why is this not already an option in the factory keyboard settings? Apple is a F’n joke, and a ripoff! Our company should have opted for an android…

I can't least use Apple's keyboard and add my own rows.... it forces you to travel back in time to a time of awful keyboard.

There is a 5 dollar paywall if you want to install a keyboard. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because you can type in the app.

The free mode does not provide anything more than apple's default keyboard except number layout. But even that is crippled, as there is no period (.) key, hence useless in most real life scenarios. Everything else is behind a paywall.

They want you to pay for a number row or anything that is beyond what is standard on the iPhone anyway. Some people smoke crack, these people smoke crack and have no reasoning skills

Every time I try to change a name of a keyboard or add another cell the app crashes, this could be because I updated to Ios17 but I don’t know. Otherwise great app

It’s a little bit of a technical challenge to learn how all the features work, and the workflow is kind of slow going, but in theory a keyboard is something you only need to make once so it can be a little inefficient. You can really customize just about everything you could want to in a keyboard. A one-time payment of $4.99 is fair for an app that collects no data and serves no ads. 4 stars because the user experience could be a little smoother, and it’s missing a couple more meta-level keyboard behavior customizations, but I think it is the best custom keyboard app out there.
