PromptSmart Pro Remote Control

The latest updates have killed the UX advantages of the old app. Used to be able to smoothly scroll with your finger as someone talked and the main app would keep up. Now it only seems to send the command to the main app to move when you take your finger off the screen, so instead of the script scrolling smoothly it jerks one line at a time. Now easier to stand to one side of the main iPad and scroll it directly with my finger rather than using the remote app :( Please restore the old way of working.

Every day. Horrible. Was perfect before the update. They just ruined their own app.

This app use to work without the need to sign in as we at times have clients that come to our studio and want to move the teleprompter themselves, now was have to login on their phone which makes the process longer and more awkward that it needs to be. Instead of making the process even easier they decided to add barriers, and complicate things when there was no need to…

I’ve followed all the instructions, it just doesn’t work. Waste of time. PromptSmart support email just bounces too, not great

To be quite frank, I am astounded how poorly this app has been executed especially as I havent yet found a script that I havent needed to move the prompter on despite your very impressive voice tracking. Multiple reviews have commented on the poor UI requiring incredibly precise button finding when operating. Looking down at your phone to find a tiny button breaks the illusion of engaging with the audience. There seems to be so many ways to deal with this (speaking as a dev): enable a split screen button area where you can press anywhere on each half to initiate up/down or allow swipe gestures anywhere on the screen. Move the start/stop button to the bottom seeing that in theory you only should use it twice... This is pretty standard expectations for a remote that you would operate without looking at when there is no tactile feedback to help finding a small arrow button. Finally, the connection is intermittent and the text scroll view just doesnt work with your voice tracking as the two get out of sync, recovery is only possible by starting the script again. If this worked it would solve most issues as you could simply scroll the prompter on when required. The whole experience is very intermittent and slow to respond which again breaks the illusion of being natural.

Paying a one off free then being asked to subscribe for more features just doesn’t seem right. Installed and deleted. The teleprompter pro has been a Godsend, this rather taints the product.

The app works sort of, sometimes it just freezes which means dashing back and forth to the iPad to physically move the text, then going back into position to continue. The remote phone app could be the prefect solution but they are trying to cash in on their own short comings by charging to use the remote app. Disgraceful!! This should be free to help rectify the problems in their PromptSmart app.

Having paid £14.99 for a prompting app, that doesn't always work, having a remote on your phone, to get over its shortcomings, seemed like the perfect solution. But then asking you to pay £1.79 every month to use the remote. Sorry, that was ridiculous. If I can find something better, Think I'll ask for a refund of the £14.99

This app is straight garbage. If, and I mean IF it connects at all it’s so buggy and laggy that it’s useless when it does actually connect. I literally had it trying to connect to the associated iPad, which was literally 2 feet away, for 35 minutes. I know it was 35 minutes because I recorded an entire script, manually having to move the teleprompter screen on the iPad because this app never connect. At all. It saw the script. It saw the iPad but just sat there trying to connect. Hot garbage. I’m glad I tried the one month free trial before paying for this mess. Get yourself together.

If you think you’ll look like a pro on set using this feature, you are sadly mistaken. This feature should be pulled until they can make it work reliably. It’s a stain on an otherwise fine product (the PromptSmart app).
