My go to source for a quick look at the news from a great source

The stories and delivery were good and I was liking it on IG enough to get the app and maybe get involved but then seeing how brutal the privacy violations of this app are really undermines the idea that this is a good-faith and unbiased production. There is no legitimate reason to collect that much data. It makes me think they are either selling it to special interests who they will probably end up catering to or they are directly observing demographics so they can make targeted stories for greater (monetary) engagement which puts us in the same death spiral that the last media was in. There is no honest, transparent, or unbiased reason to collect that much data. very sad about it actually. Roca is just McMedia after all???? I would be interested if they addressed this in a post.

Their quick, easy medium of news is innovative and could be very powerful in bringing the young generation back to news. Sadly, I have had to learn through this company that there really is no such thing as unbiased news. The reality is their individual writers each lean a certain way and their friend-group atmosphere makes this impossible to police. I have come to find a strong right leaning perspective in several articles. This is again reinforced by the poll results of the audience they have attracted.

I love Roca because it's an app that is impossible to endlessly doom-scroll. I spend 30 minutes catching up on news and playing a few games - then won't open the app till the next day. On the journalism side, they do a fantastic job being unbiased while also providing stories I likely wouldn't hear from a major news outlet. I'm very happy to be a Roca premium member - all benefits aside, this is a business I want to support!

Good news app. I’ve followed their IG for a long time. But can you please please get rid of the “Hold to Complete” button. I really don’t like having to hold for a second. Instead can you do a “Tap to Complete” or something similar?

Been reading news on this app for 177 days straight. It makes news fun by adding little games and competitions like daily streak, scores or xp when you read something, trivia and many other things. The news coverage is unbiased and really gives you the truth. Highly recommend!
