Square's mobile payment service is an absolute nightmare wrapped in a facade of convenience. They boast about helping businesses accept card payments in person, but what they conveniently omit is their penchant for terminating accounts without so much as a courtesy warning. Imagine waking up to find your account axed, your funds held hostage, and Square shrugging its shoulders with a flimsy excuse about contractual obligations. Their customer service is a joke—they hide behind vague language, citing their agreements with card networks and financial institutions as an impenetrable shield against accountability. They'll gladly sit on your hard-earned cash for months, regardless of whether it amounts to a modest sum or a small fortune stretching into the six figures. In short, steer clear of Square unless you enjoy financial Russian roulette with your business's livelihood. Their arbitrary decisions and lack of transparency are a recipe for disaster. Not only does Square's abrupt termination of accounts and withholding of funds wreak havoc on businesses, but the lack of assistance or transparency when it comes to potential fraud or stolen identity allegations further complicates matters. They leave customers in the dark, unable to defend themselves or rectify any misunderstandings, all while their livelihood hangs in the balance. It's a toxic blend of incompetence, indifference, and opacity that should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone considering using their services.

I have used numerous other cloud-based invoice apps & services thanks to multiple employees all using different things, I had to use whatever the Boss Man told me to. Now I am The Boss Lady and find myself using Square. Personally I find it great for what I need it for (self-employed single employee sole-trader mobile locksmith). Invoices look nice and professional when in PDF and I rarely even use the email feature as everyone has mobile devices more than capable. I didn’t even know people can pay me with ApplePay & GooglePay until a customer mentioned it as a great thing! Taking estimates to invoices seems clunky and could be smoother (invoice should have invoice template automatically but estimates turned in to invoices keep the estimate template/write up) but that’s a minor glitch. It could be education required on my behalf too. So I can’t fault Square Invoicing, 5 stars

Absolute lack of transparency around fees being charged

This app keeps malfunctioning repeatedly to the point where I literally can’t send an invoice to my only client I use it for. The customer service is abysmal, I’m not sure if they’re real people or just bots but they do not respond to what you say and cannot fix a recurring issue. I wish I could stop using this but have to wait until next tax year

Taking legal action both criminally and civilly.

Pretty much a terrible way to take payments if you need any flexibility in it, even then they charge you fees on fees on fees and hold your money so they can make interest off it. 2/10 would not bang
